Critical
Languages Program
The Critical Languages Program is designed to meet
the need for instruction in less commonly taught languages (LCTLs)
which are not offered through the regular curriculum of the Department
of Foreign Languages at Kennesaw State University. All basic language
courses emphasize speaking and aural comprehension at the elementary
and intermediate levels while a writing component is incorporated
at the advanced level. Languages offered vary from year to year
depending upon demand.
The KSU Critical Languages Program is affiliated with
the National Association of Self-Instructional
Language Programs (NASILP) headquartered at the University of
Arizona. Standards and procedures for the design and administration
of self-instructional language acquisition have been established
by NASILP. NASILP also "provides channels through which the
Association's members share their special concern and expertise.
NASILP is a member of the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign
Languages (ACTFL). It is an organizational affiliate of the Joint
National Committee for Languages and the National Center for Languages
and International Studies (JNCL/NCLIS) and a founding member of
the National Council of Organizations of Less Commonly Taught Languages
(NCOLCTL) headquartered at the National Foreign Language Center
(NFLC)." (citation: http://www.nasilp.org/who.html)
