Professor Vaillancourt has been selected by a university-wide committee as Kennesaw State University's first Fulbright Canadian Research Scholar, for fall semester 2007.

Professor François Vaillancourt is a full professor in the Department of Economics at the University of Montreal (B.S., 1972). He completed his Ph.D. in 1978 at Queen’s University (Ontario, Canada). His general area of specialization is public economics. He has served as research coordinator for the MacDonald Commission (1983-1986), associate director of the review Canadian Public Policy-Analyse de Politiques (1986-1995), invited scholar at both the University of Toronto and the Australian National University. Additionally, he was appointed as an affiliate scholar to The Institute for Research on Public Policy (IRPP, 1992-2000) and to the C.D. Howe Institute (2000-2003). He has served as a consultant for various organizations, both at the international level (the World Bank, the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development, the United Nations Development Program) and national level (Quebec language bodies, Statistics Canada, Department of Finance Canada, the Séguin Commission on Fiscal Imbalance).
