ASSISTANT PROFESSOR/SPANISH AND FOREIGN LANGUAGE EDUCATION
Kennesaw State University is accepting applications for an anticipated nine-month, tenure-track
Assistant Professor position in Spanish and Foreign Language Education in the Department of Foreign
Languages, beginning in August 2003. Position is dependent upon the availability of funding.
An appropriate earned doctorate is required as well as native or near-native proficiency in
Spanish and English. Successful teaching experience at the elementary, middle, or high school
level is desirable. The successful candidate is expected to coordinate the department's P-12
program in Foreign Language Education and to serve as liaison between the department and both
the College of Education and the University's Professional Teacher Education Unit. In addition,
the successful candidate must be able to (a) work effectively as a team member within the Department
of Foreign Languages, the College of Humanities and Social Sciences, the College of Education and
public school personnel; (b) teach classes in Spanish and Foreign Language Education; and (c)
advise and supervise students in a variety of field experiences. Although teaching, supervision
and mentoring are the central foci of the position, professional service and scholarly activity
are also expected of tenure-track faculty. KSU has established a notable record for the inclusion

Instructor of Spanish position in the Department of Foreign Languages, beginning in August 2003.
Position is dependent upon the availability of funding. The successful candidate will have a master's
degree in an appropriate field, a native or near-native proficiency in Spanish and English, and a record
of excellent teaching at the college and/or high school level. Having studied and/or worked in a Spanish
speaking country is highly desirable. This individual will be expected to teach four Spanish classes per
semester and serve as coordinator for all lower-division Spanish classes. KSU has established a notable
record for the inclusion of minorities and women in its educational mission and strongly encourages
