The Department of First Year Programs houses two nationally-recognized academic programs specifically designed for first-year students: the First-Year Seminar program and the Learning Communities program. Both programs support and promote student success at Kennesaw State University.

U.S. News & World Report has again recognized KSU for having one of the best “First-Year Experience Programs” in “America’s Top Colleges 2008” issue:

MISSION STATEMENT
The Department of First-Year Programs at Kennesaw State University provides first-year students a foundation in academic and life skills to be further developed as these students progress toward graduation. In collaboration with other academic units and students success units, the Department of First-Year Programs assists students in the transition to college life by reinforcing the value of general education, by exposing students to the concept of global citizenship, by expecting students to engage in critical thinking, and by promoting personal growth through academic and social opportunity.
