Superstitious sailors may have
once feared sailing over the edge of the world, but in
today’s global society, Kennesaw State University students
are embracing the notion that the world is flat and are
packing their bags in record numbers to explore it.
“We want our students to be
responsible global citizens who have the skills to interact
effectively across cultures and in a global context,” Dan
Paracka, director of the office of international services
and programs, said.
Highlighting the
university’s commitment to diversity, internationalization
and global learning are more than 20 study abroad
opportunities, in addition to internship opportunities
abroad.
But you don’t have to leave
campus to gain exposure to some of the benefits of traveling
overseas.
The International Student Association involves international
students in campus and community life by organizing group
outings, hosting speakers and receptions, sponsoring the
annual International Festival and the International Student
Awards Banquet.
Other campus-based
initiatives include the Campus Internationalization Mentors
Program, the Model UN, Model AU and Model AL groups and
Conversation Partners, which pair’s native and non-native
English speakers.
