Meet the Director

Skip SpannT.E. "Skip" Spann
Director of Special Initiatives

Thomas "Skip" Spann is a native of Texas who was educated in Louisiana public schools and Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches, Texas. He holds a Certified Shopping Center Manager designation from International Council of Shopping Centers.

Skip spent 35 years in Shopping Center Industry. After 17 years as General Manager of Town Center at Cobb, he retired and formed the Spann Group, LLC, a real estate consulting firm. In 2004, he became the Director of special Initiatives at Kennesaw State University. He is a Trustee Emeritus of the Kennesaw State University Foundation.

A resident of Cobb County for over 20 years, Skip has served the community as Vice-Chairman of the Town Center Area Community Improvement District (CID) Board of Directors; and through Board of Directors memberships with both The Georgian Club and the Cobb County Animal Control. Skip serves on KSU Foundation Board of Trustees as a member of the Development Committee.


As the Director of Special Initiatives, Skip works to build business and political relationships for the university. His efforts focus on transportation enhancement, real estate aquisition, capital construction and rennovation projects, and fundraising to support all colleges at Kennesaw State University. Skip and George Olney, KSU Athletics Development Director, lead the athletics component of the New Faces of Kennesaw Capital Campaign.


Skip and his wife, Ilyene, are the proud parents of three children and three grandchildren.
