TRINIDAD INTERNATIONAL SALES STRATEGY
Spring Break 2008
Travel Dates: February 29 - March 9, 2008

This 3-credit course teaches the concepts and complexities of sales and marketing on an international level. The unique country of Trinidad and Tobago sits in the southernmost part of the Caribbean and has two distinct economies. Tobago is a lovely resort island with an economy built on tourism while Trinidad's economoy is based on industry and commerce. Students will get inside knowledge of Trinidad and Tobago's industries and the challenges they face in expanding sales overseas. Then the students will use the business knowledge they have gained through their major to act as consultants and help Trinidad and Tobabo companies expand their international sales. The ability to work, communicate and do business with individuals from other cultures is an excellent career skill for any business major!

Course:
All participants will take the following Spring 2008 3 CR HR course: MKTG 4490
Prerequisite: MKTG 3100

Housing:
Students will be housed in the Halyconia Inn near the Port of Spain in Trinidad.

Application Deadline:
December 31, 2007 to receive an early applicant discount of $100.

Program Cost:
$1,800.00 The program cost includes airfare, lodging, some meals, program-related excursions and emergency health insurance. Tuition is paid separately during Spring semester registration.

Friday, February 8, 15, 22, & 29
:
Pre-trip classes about 2 hours each.

Friday, February 29th:
Fly from Atlanta to Tobago

Saturday, March 1st:
Tour Tobago's historical sights, take a glass-bottomed boat tour of bucco reef, and shop at store bay.

Sunday, March 2nd:
Visit Pidgeon point and attend "Sunday School" a local cultural fair and festival

Monday, March 3rd:
Visit with community and business leaders and hike the tropical rain forest.

Tuesday, March 4th:
Ride a high-speed ferry to Port of Spain on Trinidad Island, eat at a catered reception while hearing about Trinidad's culture and economy from community leaders.

Wednesday, March 5th:
Travel and tour a LGN plant and experience the Great Pitch Lake.

Thursday, March 6th:
Meet and work with corporate partners as a business consultant.

Friday, March 7th:
Tour Port of Spain and surrounding environs.

Saturday, March 8th:
Tour a coco plantation and rabbit farm to learn of the agricultural industry in Trinidad; then travel to Maracas Beach for a lunch of Bake n Shark.

Sunday, March 9th:
Fly back to Atlanta, GA and continue working on consulting projects.
