An innovative, professional graduate degree program - the first of its kind in Georgia - the Master of Arts in Professional Writing (MAPW) prepares students for a wide variety of writing-related positions in business, education, publishing, and the arts. The program prepares professional writers to excel in today's print and electronic environments.

You will receive hands-on experience in editing, analyzing, and producing documents with guidance from an interdisciplinary team of faculty from the KSU English, Communication and Visual Arts departments. The graduate faculty includes published scholars and acclaimed creative writers with diverse specialties.

Highlights of the MAPW Program include:

  • Choice of specialization and minor from three areas: Applied Writing, creative Writing, or Composition and Rhetoric;
  • Opportunity to complete your degree within two years;
  • Internships at KSU and throughout the metro Atlanta area;
  • Class schedules to accommodate working and nontraditional students; and
  • Opportunity to explore writing with writers and writing educators in the Kennesaw Mountain National Writing Project.
