Are you fascinated by
human nature? Do you want to understand how economics influences society?
Understand the world? Get the "big picture"? Does the idea of a
career in law, government, international business, high school, college, or
university teaching, historical research, public history or historic
preservation intrigue you? Consider one of the majors offered by the
Department of History and Philosophy. We offer B.A. degrees in History and
in African and African Diaspora Studies and a B.S. degree in Social Science
Education. You can minor in either History or Philosophy, and you can earn
a certificate in Public History or European Union Studies. Visit our
offices on the second floor of the Pilcher Building and learn about the Center
for Regional History and Culture, the Center for the Development of Asian
Studies, the Philosophy Student Association, and the History honor society,
Phi Alpha Theta. There are numerous opportunities for study abroad and
internships for students pursuing any of the degrees we offer.
