Separating from Employment
Giving Notice of Resignation
To allow for the smooth transition of responsibilities, resignations should be given with as much notice as possible. Especially for professional positions, a minimum two week notice is requested. Resignations should be given in writing to the immediate supervisor with a copy to Human Resources. Prior to the last day of employment, benefited employees should schedule an exit interview with the HR office.
Involuntary Separation
Involuntary separation may occur at the end of a contracted period, when the temporary assignment is deemed completed or no longer needed, or due to termination resulting from poor performance, just cause, or reorganization among other reasons. Benefited employees separating involuntarily should still contact their HR Partner to discuss arrangements for an exit interview. Non-temporary employees who have completed their six month provisional employment period may reference the Grievance Policy for information on their right of appeal. Please refer any questions regarding unemployment benefits directly to the Georgia Department of Labor.
