and Curriculum Committee, the
UNDERGRADUATE POLICIES AND CURRICULUM COMMITTEE APPROVALS: Changes will be reflected in the 1999-00 Undergraduate Catalog; copies are on file in the Office of Institutional Research & Academic Support Services and the Horace W. Sturgis Library. *Minors and Certificate Programs* * A policy statement on academic minors and certificate programs under the semester system at KSU was approved in May 1998 and takes effect Fall Semester 1998. Each program must meet these policy requirements and go through the approval process before being included in 1999- 00 catalog.* Integrated Graduate Studies: Bachelor's-Master's Degree Option* * This policy allows students to take up to nine hours of graduate-level courses offered within a single degree program and use those hours in meeting both bachelor's and master's degree requirements. The policy was approved at both the UPCC and GPCC levels.* Policy on Double Majors* *The policy on double major will read as follows: "An undergraduate student is eligible to have a double major recorded on the transcript and to graduate with two degrees under the following conditions: 1) all of the requirements for two KSU degree programs are satisfied, including all residency and institutional requirements for each major; and 2) the second major contains at least 21 semester hours of upper division course work beyond the courses required for the student's first major and general education requirements."*Undergraduate Programs - Change in Degree Requirements and Programs* * Communication Department has changed program and degree requirements as follows: - COM 1109 has been removed as a lower division requirement for communication majors and placed in the General Education requirements as a Humanities elective. Lower division requirements for communication majors was increased which should compensate for the loss of COM 1109 as a major requirement.

- Renaming of COM 4480 Communication Theory to Seminar in Communication Theory. Name change and course description to reflect advanced nature of course.- The Communication program description was changed to clarify the structure of course requirements. In addition, the course listing has been changed to reflect the nature of track requirements. The correct upper division major configuration is:

- Delete COM 3386 Communication in American Culture and COM 4464 Documentary Form in Media.*New Undergraduate Courses*- COM 3344 Communication Training in Organization will replace COM 3376 Interpersonal Communi- cation as one of two required courses in upper division Organizational Communication track. COM 3376 will now be one of four elective courses for that track.
* BIOL 4430. Human Anatomy. 0-2-1. Prerequisite: BIOL 3300.*Undergraduate Course Changes ** COM 4425. Gender, Race and Media. 3-0-3. Prerequisite: 60 hours completed (junior or senior standing)
* COM 4424. Uses and Effects of Mass Media. 3-0-3. Prerequisites: COM 2230, COM 3324.
* CSIS 4723. Graphic User Interfaces. 3-0-3. Prerequisite: CSIS 3100.
*BIOL 2200. Prerequisite change to MATH 1113 or higher.*Undergraduate Course Deletions **NURS 2208 and NURS 2210 were combined into one course NURS 3209 Basis for Holistic Nursing and Health. 4-6-6. Prerequisites: Admission to BSN program; ENGL 1102, MATH 1107, BIOL 2222, BIOL 2261, SCI CORE, SOCI 2105, PSYC 3305.
*NURS 3314 Prerequisite change to NURS 3209, 3301, 3309, and Co-requisite change to NURS 3303, NURS 3313, BIOL 3317.
*NURS 3315 and NURS 3316 combined into one course NURS 3318. Parent-Child Nursing. 3-9-6. Prerequisites: NURS3209, 3301, 3309 & 3313. Co-requisites: NURS 3303, BIOL 3317.
*POLS 3343 Principles of Public Administration and POLS 4444 Administrative Practices and Organization exchanged course descriptions to correct a long-standing reversal-in-course-description error.
The following Performance Studies courses are to be deleted from Communication. COM 3309, COM 3329, COM 3349 and COM 3369 will become Theater courses with same name. COM 2219 will have a name change when added by Theater:

*The Master of Science in Information Systems proposal was accepted and approved by the Board of Regents in May 1998 and will be offered beginning Spring Semester 1999.

The following Senate recommendations have been approved for implementation. Where applicable, these approvals will be included in the latest editions of the catalogs and/or handbooks of Kennesaw State University.
* Policy statement entitled "Review & Evaluation of Faculty Performance" to replace Tenure, Promotion and Review section of Faculty Handbook.* Policy statement entitled "Workload Guidelines for Teaching Faculty" to replace Faculty Workload Guidelines in Faculty Handbook.
* During the upcoming transitional period, faculty have the option of preparing for reviews in 1998-99 in accordance with the former 1997-98 portfolio guidelines or the new guidelines for portfolios contained in 5/6/ 98 document.
* Formation of a new Faculty Evaluation Oversight Committee in 1998-99 to access KSU's experience next year with P&T, PTR and annual reviews under these revised policies and to recommend to the Senate further improvements as deemed necessary. The membership of the oversight committee should include the following individuals:
