The last meeting of the 2005-2006 academic year was called to order at  2:06 p.m. 

The 1st meeting of the 2006-2007 academic year (Sentinel spring semester term EIC selection) was called to order by Ed Bonza (acting chair) at 2:06 p.m. 

The open forum, to permit guests the opportunity to ask the single candidate questions, was held in conjunction with the formal interview, as only one candidate was interviewed.

After questions the board moved into closed deliberations at 3:05 p.m. After discussion, the vote was called for Sentinel spring '07 editor by a simple show of hands. Votes for Press: 7 for, 0 against, 2 nonvoting.

Candidate were called back in and the decision announced; the spring 2007 editor of The Sentinel is Kayla Press.

In other business:

Edman updated the board on chair duties and SMB Bylaw revisions. Dr. Dabundo suggested that one student member and one faculty or staff member co-chair the board. Carolyn McCully volunteered to co-chair, as did Dr. Azriel.   Azriel and McCully will co-chair the remaining meetings of 2006-2007.

Ms. Phillips will contact a student to fill the Student Member at Large: ISA/AASA position.

Dr. Azriel will talk to his wife, a producer with Channel 2, about the Media Professional position. 

Bonza will contact SG President Touchton to fill the elected student member position (vacated by Hough).

Bonza updated SMB members on the progress of OWL Radio.

The meeting was adjourned at 3:52 p.m.
