Dear Student Media Board members,
Below is the minutes of our 4-21-08 meeting. This was a "called" meeting for OWL Radio General Manager and Program Director interviews and appointment. Please review and let me know of any errors. This is the last meeting for the academic year - I will be contacting you soon about possible involvement with next year's board.

Minutes
April 21, 2008
Attending:
Dr. Nancy King, Joshua Azriel, Michelle Azriel, Dr. Laura Dabundo, , Helen Herbst, Cedric Meyers, Jessica Edens, Zach Voss, Ed Bonza
Excused: , Tracey Brown, Jennifer Kreitzer, Nicole Phillips
Guests/Candidates: Danielle Campbell, Kevin Schmidt, Kanchana Ramachandran (Tracy Barahona did not attend)
The Last meeting of the 2007-2008 academic year was called to order by J. Azriel at 9:33 a.m.
After discussion, it was decided that the candidates would be interviewed one at a time, rather than as a group.
Kanchana Ramachandran was interviewed for OWL Radio Program Director at 9:37 a.m. (candidate Tracy Barahona did not show for an interview)
At 9:51 a short break was taken so a special plaque and monetary award could be given to C. Meyers in appreciation of his contributions as OWL Radio's first GM.
D. Campbell was interviewed for OWL Radio General Manager at 9:55 a.m.
K. Schmidt was interviewed for OWL Radio General Manager at 10:15 a.m.
Guests and candidates were asked to leave and the Board went into closed deliberations.
A motion was made by L. Dabundo to appoint D. Campbell as OWL Radio GM for 2008-2009. J. Edens seconded. The motion passed 7-0-0.
A motion was made by M. Azriel to offer K. Schmidt the position of OWL Radio PD for 2008-2009. L. Dabundo seconded. The motion passed 6-0-1.
Guests and candidates were invited back into the meeting room and position results announced.
The SMB Alumni Representative Proposal was discussed at 10:43 a.m., detailed as follows:
Section 6: Student Media Board Membership
Q. Alumni Representative: Elected by the SMB to serve two (2) years. The alumni member works full time in the media and has been a KSU graduate for 2 years upon appointment. (voting)
Guidelines for Selecting the Alumni Position:
- The SMB Secretary will advertise the position
- A Subcommittee of three SMB members (Secretary, student, and faculty/staff member) will interview the prospective candidate by telephone. The following factors will guide the subcommittee:
• Knowledge of student media at KSU
• Potential Contribution to SMB
• Availability
- Subcommittee will make a recommendation to the SMB
- SMB will vote on the candidate
A motion was made to approve the SMB Alumni Representative as detailed. The motion passed 7-0-0.
The meeting was adjourned at 10:48 a.m.
