Student Media Board

Jerome Ratchford, Joshua Azriel, Dr. Laura Dabundo (Chair), Michael Ruther, Kevin Schmidt, Susan Clough, Maria Yanovsky, Susan Clough, Ed Bonza. Candidates: Noel Garwick, Andrew Groom, Katerine Tippins, Jason Royal, Patti Gregory, Vanessa Fardin, Michael Ruther, Maria Yanovsky.

Absent: Michelle Azriel, Aixa M. Pascual (both excused)

The last meeting of the 2008-2009 academic year (all media editor/manager selection) was called to order by Chair L. Dabundo at 10:07 a.m. 

As two of the candidates were uncontested and seeking a second term (M. Yanovsky, Talon Monthly; K. Schmidt, OWL Radio), they were interviewed first. 

Share Art & Literary Magazine had four (4) candidates and conducted interviews next. P. Gregory gave a short presentation and was interviewed by the Board at 10:31 a.m. J. Royal was interviewed at 10:46 a.m. M. Ruther was interviewed at 10:58 am. V. Fardin was interviewed at 11:11 a.m. 

All non SMB members were excused as the SMB entered deliberations at 11:20 a.m. Deliberations ended and guests invited back at 11:33 a.m. 

K. Tippins gave a short presentation and was interviewed by the Board at 11:34 a.m. The SMB reentered deliberations at 11:51 for the remaining Sentinel, Talon, and OWL Radio GM positions.

The meeting was opened again for OWL Radio Program Director position. N. Garwick was interviewed at 12:06 p.m. A. Groom was interviewed at 12:20 p.m. The SMB again excused nonmembers and deliberated at 12:30 p.m.

Deliberations ended and guests entered at 12:40 p.m. Chair L. Dabundo announced the management decisions for 2009-2010 student media. 

M. Yanovsky will be editor in chief of Talon for a second term on the condition that she let go of her other student media responsibilities. K. Schmidt was appointed to a second term as KSU OWL Radio General Manager. A. Groom will be the 2009-2010 Program Director for the station. K. Tippins was appointed as summer/fall term Sentinel editor in chief with full newspaper editorial board training required prior to the first issue of a term, such training being a responsibility of the SMB and incoming editor in chief. P. Gregory was appointed as the 2009-2010 editor in chief of Share Magazine.

The meeting was adjourned at 12:58 p.m.
