About Library Circulation

Circulation staff members are always happy to help patrons determine the location of books, retrieve reserve materials, check out library materials, check out laptops for KSU student use, and assist with using the microfilm machines.

The following rules apply to circulating books:

• Three-week check out
• Non-overdue materials are renewable online via the library catalog or by calling the circulation desk at 770-423-6202
• Regularly circulating materials are renewable four times per semester
• Hold requests granted for books that are currently checked out
• Fine of $0.25 per book, per day overdue
• Maximum fine of $3 per book
• Students owing fines in excess of $6 to the library will have registration privileges and grades withheld

For the convenience of the KSU community, there are two book drops intended for after-hours returns. The first is located on the south-facing wall of the main library and the other is located near the Social Sciences Building.

Reserve Materials: Specific materials placed on reserve by instructors for class use can be found in two places. Electronic reserve materials can be accessed through the ARES system. For more information, see the Electronic Reserves overview page.

Print reserve materials can be found at the Circulation Desk. Instructors who have requested print materials must notify the library staff when the reserves are no longer required. Students checking out print materials must adhere to the following rules:

• Materials are usually for library use only
• Only two library-use items may be checked out at a time
• Some reserve materials are available for overnight checkout and are due back by the next scheduled class meeting
• Only one class-to-class item may be checked out at a time
• Overdue reserve materials accrue a $1 per day fine, with a maximum fine of $5 per item
• Reserve materials may be photocopied.
