Greetings, and thank you for your interest in the M.A. in Integrated Global Communication at Kennesaw State University.
Organizations today must be prepared to compete for market share, mind share and competitive positioning on a global scale, and professional communicators need to be sophisticated and sensitized to the complexities of transnational and multicultural stakeholders, audiences, markets, and media. It is for these reasons that the MAIGC was created. The MAIGC aims to prepare the next generation of communication leaders in globally-integrated organizations.
The MAIGC is one of only a handful of graduate programs in the U.S. that focus exclusively on global communication. Our study-observe-do curriculum provides you with the theory and research backgrounds traditional masters programs offer, the opportunity to observe these theories in action in the real world of global communication during a required module abroad, and a capstone course where you demonstrate your skills and knowledge in a professional project. MAIGC professors and our curriculum allow you to pursue your research interests that best fit your career aspirations or interests.
The centerpiece of the curriculum is the Summer Engagement Abroad Module (SEAM) when you choose an international experience that best meets your needs. Since its launch in fall 2011, MAIGC students in the SEAM have visited 19 countries on six continents to work on directed study projects, work internships, participate in two-week study tours to major global cities, or join one of many KSU study abroad courses.
The MAIGC begins a new phase in Fall 2016 when the tuition structure shifts for Georgia residents from a premium tuition to regular KSU graduate tuition. For non-residents the tuition stays the same. This change makes the program more accessible to those of you desiring a graduate degree in communication in a highly marketable specialization and more flexible in scheduling classes for those of you with fulltime jobs.
We hope this website provides you with the information you need about this innovative and contemporary graduate program. We host several open houses during the fall and spring semesters for prospective students, and you can find dates for these on this website and register for one on the KSU Graduate Admissions website. We also want you to contact us if you have more questions. Please call 470-578-4900 or email me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
And thanks again for your interest in the MAIGC.
