| The Graduate Research
Assistantship Program at Kennesaw State University is designed
to provide an opportunity for a graduate student to work closely
with a graduate faculty member on projects related to the
student's major field of study.
Eligibility
To be eligible for a Graduate Research Assistantship, a student
must have
1) completed the requirements for an undergraduate degree,
2) applied for and been fully accepted to a graduate degree
program of study, and
3) maintained a 3.0 grade point average in any previous graduate
course work.
Term of Appointment
One-semester assistantships will be awarded to qualified
full-time graduate students (6 credit hours/semester minimum)
for 13 hours of work per week. Students must take a minimum of 6
hours of graduate coursework and a maximum of 9 hours during the
term in which he/she is a GRA. Coursework overloads for more
than 9 hours for Graduate Research Assistants are rarely granted
and only after approval by the graduate program director and the
Dean of Graduate Studies.
Fees
Each GRA will receive a stipend of $2,000 per semester ($500
monthly). Graduate Research Assistants pay a special tuition
rate of $25 per semester, as well as all student fees. All other
tuition (in- and out-of-state) is waived.
A mandatory insurance plan is
in effect for Graduate Research Assistants. Students will be
billed at the time of registration. The fee for the 2006-2007
academic year is $405 per semester, fall and spring.
A waiver of the health
insurance fee may be applied for directly with the insurer. This
plan is optional for all other students.
