| The KSU Brass Ensemble The Brass Ensemble performs the finest large and small compositions in the brass repertoire. Founded by William "Bill" Hill, one of the nation's most distinguished brass pedagogues, the Brass Ensemble programs original works by Britten, Copland, Gabrieli, and Tomasi among others. The Brass Ensemble performs four times throughout the academic year in joint concerts with the KSU Wind Ensemble. In addition to exploring the major works for full orchestral brass sections, the Brass Ensemble forms smaller ensembles to perform trio, quartet and quintet repertoire in a chamber setting. In this formation the works of Ruggles, Poulenc, Villa Lobos, Bassett, Ewald, Beethoven and others are explored, either in settings for mixed brass or in ensembles of like instruments. |
