Instrumental Studies

Kennesaw State University offers a vibrant program in instrumental music. Whether your interest is in performance or education; whether your emphasis is in string, wind, brass, or percussion music, Kennesaw will prepare you for a life in music.

We pride ourselves on the musical progress and achievement of our students, and they continue to excel. KSU instrumentalists come from many of Georgia's finest high school music programs; have won local, regional, and national performing competitions; and scholarships to the nation's finer graduate music programs.

Kennesaw instrumentalists have moved on to the nation's distinguished schools of music and conservatories, including The New England Conservatory, The University of Michigan, Northwestern University, The University of Maryland, The University of Texas at Austin, and Temple University. While enrolled at KSU, many instrumental studies students garner additional performing experience at summer festivals such as the Brevard Music Center and with ensembles such as The Atlanta Wind Symphony, The Columbus Symphony Orchestra, The Cobb Symphony Orchestra, and the Georgia Philharmonia.

Our faculty are distinguished artist-teachers, many of whom perform with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra and the Atlanta Opera. Our resident ensembles, the Atlanta Symphony Brass Quintet and the Atlanta Percussion Trio, ensure that chamber music is a presence at KSU.  In the classroom, the concert hall, and in their communities, KSU music graduates thrive. We invite you to consider Kennesaw and, in the words of one of our students, “get yourself involved”.
