KSU Jazz brings big band to Starlight Series

The KSU Jazz Ensemble will perform at
the Legacy Gazebo Amphitheater on July 15.
The KSU Jazz Ensemble will perform at 7:30 p.m. on Sunday, July 15 at the Kennesaw State University Legacy Gazebo Amphitheater. The concert is open to the public and will feature big band favorites in a jazz performance in the ongoing Starlight Summer Concert Series. The event is held in a casual atmosphere and attendees are encouraged to bring family and friends, coolers, blankets and folding chairs for this evening under the stars. There is plenty of room for children to run and a concession stand will be available.
The KSU Jazz Ensemble is led by KSU Director of Jazz Studies Sam Skelton and includes student and community instrumentalists by audition. Recent performances of the ensemble have included music by Duke Ellington, Stan Kenton and Count Basie, among others.
Admission is only $5 per person and tickets are available at the gate. Table reservations are available for parties up to six and are $50. Table reservations must be made at least one week in advance. Gates open at 5:30 p.m.
The Starlight Series offers evening performances of popular music in several genres. Grammy-winning bandleader Poncho Sanchez and his Latin jazz group will appear on July 29. Next, Regina Carter brings her jazz violin compositions on Aug. 12. Wrapping up the summer will be jazz vocalist Connie Evingson on Aug. 26.
