On February 3, 2003, the Office of
Research opened its doors for business. The
department is the first Office of Research for the
WellStar College of Health and Human Services and Kennesaw State
University.
In the past two
and half years, the department's staff have established collaboratives and
partnerships with academic institutions, federal agencies, foundations,
non-profit community-based organizations and corporations.

The Office of Research has been established to:
- Strengthen faculty research agendas
- Enhance college research infrastructure
- Facilitate research partnerships domestically and internationally
- Conduct applied research for local, state, federal, and private sector constituents
- Stimulate community-based participatory research collaboration among academic research faculty, public health professionals, community-based organizations, and corporations.
