The
ombuds can...
- listen
to you;
- answer
your questions;
- analyze
your situation;
- explain
university policies and procedures;
- develop
options;
- facilitate
discussion of problems;
- mediate
between individuals or groups;
- recommend
changes in university policies or procedures that may be
outdated, ineffectual or arbitrary.
The ombuds does not:

adjudicate or arbitrate cases;

give legal advice;

serve as an advocate for any individual;

serve as an agent of notice for the university;

offer psychological counseling services;

participate in grievances or other formal processes.
