How can the Ombuds help You?

The ombuds can...

• listen to you;
• answer your questions;
• analyze your situation;
• explain university policies and procedures;
• develop options;
• facilitate discussion of problems;
• mediate between individuals or groups;
• recommend changes in university policies or procedures that may be outdated, ineffectual or arbitrary.
  

The ombuds does not:

• adjudicate or arbitrate cases;
• give legal advice;
• serve as an advocate for any individual;
• serve as an agent of notice for the university;
• offer psychological counseling services;
• participate in grievances or other formal processes.
