Why use the Services of the Ombuds?

The ombuds is...

ACCESSIBLE. The ombuds works with all members of the university community, including students, staff and faculty.

INDEPENDENT. The ombuds reports directly to the University President.

NEUTRAL. The ombuds is not an advocate for any group or individual. The ombuds hears and assesses complaints as an unbiased and impartial third party. However, the ombuds advocates for fairness when it is determined that a policy or procedure has not been applied in a fair and consistent manner.

Services provided by the ombuds are

CONFIDENTIAL. All inquiries will remain confidential except for threats of imminent harm to self or others.
