1. What do I receive in the Peace Corps Fellowship?
During the Fall and Spring semesters, your tuition will be waived. You will also receive a stipend of $2,000 per semester, which will be distributed in monthly payments.

2. What do I do as a KSU Peace Corps Fellow for the Coles School of Business?
The Fellows Program is administered as a Graduate Research Assistantship. You are required to work an average of 13 hours per week for fifteen weeks each semester or a maximum of 195 hours per term. Graduate Research Assistants must register for and maintain a minimum of 6 and a maximum of 9 semester graduate credit hours each semester. However, it is recommended that students enroll for 9 semester hours each semester in order to complete the program under the terms of the fellowship.

3. How much are fees?
Graduate Student fees and Parking fees are $314 and $110 respectively. These fees are subject to change. Fees are NOT covered by the Peace Corps Fellowship.

4. When are fees due?
Fees are generally due at the within the first week of the semester.

5. Do I need Health Insurance?
Yes, all Graduate Research Assistants are required to have health insurance. KSU has contracted with Pearce & Pearce to provide coverage. http://www.kennesaw.edu/student_life/insurance.shtml. Health insurance fees are NOT covered by the fellowship.

6. What if I already have Health Insurance?

7. What about housing?

8. How many students are accepted into the Fellows program each year?
Two students are accepted into the program each fall semester.

9. How long does it take to complete the program?
On average the program takes eighteen months to complete.

10. What are the prerequisites for someone who does not have a business background?
The Coles College of Business offers three prerequisite courses GBA 6101, GBA 6102, and GBA 6103 that satisfies classes for fundamental accounting, finance and statistics. Each class is a one credit-hour self-paced, Internet driven course. The course(s) required are determined for each student based on a thorough analysis of college transcripts showing prior academic course work You will receive more information on these prerequisites upon acceptance into the MBA program at Kennesaw State University.

11. What are the requirements to be considered for the fellowship?
To be considered for the Peace Corps Fellowship you should meet the following requirements:

  • Baccalaureate degree from an institution accredited in a manner accepted by Kennesaw State University.
  • Minimum cumulative adjusted grade point average of 2.80 on a 4.0 scale.
  • Minimum total score of 500 on the Graduate Management Admissions Test (GMAT).
  • Minimum of two years of significant business experience is strongly desired.

12. What is the Maya Project?
The Maya Project for Peace Corps Fellows has five major sub-programs that Peace Corps Fellows might join. Actual assignments within the programs are based on the experience and skills of the Fellows, and although a conversational ability in the Spanish language would be an asset in some of the programs, no other language other than English is required.

  1. The Maya Project has an alliance with Families of Cherokee United In Service (FOCUS), and Fellows will coordinate programs between the Maya Project and FOCUS programs. FOCUS supplies office space in Holly Springs to the Maya Project.
  2. The Maya Project works with local schools and immigrant parents, to encourage success in the schools for the Maya children.
  3. The Maya Project helps local Maya businesses. By using skills learned in the MBA program or though previous experience, the Fellow will work directly with business owners and managers.
  4. The Maya Project works with health, education, and public safety groups to promote knowledge about the Maya, and help such groups succeed in their missions.
  5. The Maya Project coordinates a program on the SKU campus, creating learning and research opportunities for KSU faculty and students through meetings and activities between the Maya and the campus.

13. What is the KSU MBA and MAcc Program?
Coles offers eight graduate programs leading to the highly-regarded Master of Business Administration (MBA) or Master of Accounting (MAcc) degree. All business and accounting programs are accredited by AACSB International - The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business.

14. Do I need to speak Spanish?
Although a conversational ability in the Spanish language would be an asset in some of the programs, no other language other than English is required.

15. Are there scholarships available?

16. What is the deadline for submitting an application?
The deadline for submitting an application is March 15, 2009.

17. What is the application process?

  1. Applications are constantly being accepted for the program. However, applications will be reviewed in March and April for the upcoming Fall semester.
  2. To be considered for the KSU Fellows program, one must submit an application to Dan Paracka by March 15, 2009 for the upcoming Fall semester.
  3. The Peace Corps Fellows Committee will review all applications and contact candidates no later than May 1.
  4. Once accepted, candidates will submit application to KSU MBA program. Candidates are responsible for the $50 graduate school application fee. Official transcripts must be submitted as part of the application process.

18. When should I apply to the KSU MBA or MAcc program?
Candidates should wait until acceptance into the Peace Corps Fellows Program before submitting application to KSU MBA program. Candidates are responsible for the $50 graduate school application fee. Official transcripts must be submitted as part of the application process.

19. Will I need my Peace Corps Description of Service?
Yes, the Description of Service is required with your application to the KSU Peace Corps Fellows Program. You can request your DOS from the Peace Corps Office in WDC. For more information, look at the Fellows Application Checklist.

21. What is the Get Global Initiative?
