Description
of the Latin American Studies Minor
This minor is intended to give you, the undergraduate student,
breadth and understanding of Latin America. The minor enables
you to gain a solid foundation for understanding contemporary
Latin American society. To achieve this goal, this minor offers
a range of courses in history, political science, art, and
language. You will also be permitted to take appropriate directed
studies, special topics, or study abroad courses. The minor
will be especially useful to students who seek greater speci10-Jan-2008 10:36 AM seek to enhance their
study of the Spanish or Portuguese language with knowledge
of this world region. Elementary, or 1002 level French, Portuguese
or Spanish is required of the minor. These are all languages
spoken in Latin America while Spanish is dominant in the greatest
number of Latin American countries.
