Kennesaw State University
The Master of Science in Conflict Management is housed in the Department of Political Science in the College of Humanities and Social Science at Kennesaw State University. Kennesaw State University is the third largest institution in the University System of Georgia. Located 20 minutes north of downtown Atlanta in Cobb County, Kennesaw State University has convenient access to both the metro area's resources and to North Georgia.

Kennesaw State University is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools and each college is accredited by their associate organizations. The University has 18,450 undergraduates and 2,050 graduate students. Kennesaw State University has students from 130 countries. As part of its 2006-2007 Quality Enhancement Plan, Kennesaw State University initiated the "Get Global" initiative. "Get Global" focuses on education for engaged citizenship by increasing the visibility and availability of international and multicultural courses, especially study abroad opportunities and exchange programs.

Currently Kennesaw State University has 125 clubs, organizations and athletic activities. The clubs range from religious to social interests. There is a sports event for every time of the year. Currently, KSU has men’s baseball, basketball, cross-country, golf, tennis, track and field, and hockey. In women’s sports, KSU has basketball, cross-country, golf, soccer, softball, tennis, track and field, and volleyball.

 

Cobb County
Kennesaw State University is located in Cobb County, the third largest county in Georgia and one of the fastest growing. Cobb County is home to over 670,000 people ,over 212 international firms, and three Fortune 500 companies. Major employers in Cobb County include WellStar Health System, The Home Depot, and Lockheed Martin Aeronautics Company. Cobb is also home to Dobbins Air Reserve Base. In addition, Cobb has access to a variety of cultural and recreational venues, like Cobb Energy Performing Arts Center, Theatre in the Square, Mable House Barnes Amphitheatre, and Six Flags Over Georgia.  There are six cities in Cobb County: Acworth, Austell, Kennesaw, Marietta, Power Springs, and Smyrna.

 

City of Kennesaw
The City of Kennesaw has a population of over 20,000 people. Like Cobb County, Kennesaw is home to a vibrant business community. Several companies, including Hitachi Maxco, Ltd., Kawasaki Construction Machinery Corporation of America, and Yamaha Motor Corporation, have their national or regional headquarters in Kennesaw.

In 2004, Kennesaw was designated a Preserve America community by First Lady Laura Bush. Then, in August 2007, Family Circle magazine selected Kennesaw as one of the country’s “10 Best Towns for Families.” Each year Kennesaw hosts a variety of community events, including the Big Shanty Festival in spring, the Summer Concert Series at the Depot, the Folk Tales of the Rails, and the Christmas Tree Lighting and Santa Parade. Kennesaw also has 23 community parks with sports fields, tennis and basketball courts, playgrounds, and walking trails.
