| A scholarship is money provided to a student to pay educational expenses that does not need to be repaid. Scholarships are available from a variety of sources including corporations, federal and state agencies, and private or charitable organizations. Scholarships are granted based on the applicant's ability to meet a series of requirements, such as a particular grade point average or affiliation with a specific organization.
