Academic advisement
is handled through the Psychology Academic Advisement Center (PAAC). PAAC
is offered to students during selected weeks of each semester for course
planning, scheduling and degree progress review. Department faculty are
available to meet
individually with students during scheduled appointment times.
PAAC is usually
operative two weeks prior and during priority registration for each
semester. A red banner is hung outside the department office announcing
PAAC. The dates for PAAC are posted on the advisement bulletin boards
outside the department office. Appointments are scheduled through the
department secretaries starting one-week prior to the beginning of
advisement. Appointments must be made at least 24-hours in advance. You may
come by the main office or call 770-423-6225 to make your appointment.
Students should
arrive at their PAAC appointments with a prepared tentative semester course
plan. If you are not sure of the courses that you have completed and how
they fit into the degree program, you may obtain a printout of your
completed courses through the KSU Home Page at www.kennesaw.edu or by making a
request to the department secretaries before your scheduled appointment so
that you may prepare your tentative class schedule prior to your
appointment.
During the PAAC
appointment, an advisor will review your tentative schedule with you and
answer any questions you may have concerning scheduling and course
planning. Students are advised to meet with an academic advisor at least
once every academic year to ensure progress toward
graduation.
Transfer students are
encouraged to meet with the Coordinator of Academic Advisement or the Chair
of the Department to review transfer credits for proper placement into
KSU’s psychology degree program. Transfer students should meet with the
Chair or the Coordinator of Advisement either prior to, or during their
first semester at KSU. Subsequent advisement appointments can be scheduled
through PAAC.
Two courses require a
special admission process. The Field Experience course requires completion
of an application and approval for admission into the course. The
application form is available below. The Senior Capstone course is the
second course that requires special permission for enrollment. This application form can also be found in the listing below.
