Petitioning to Graduate

How to Petition to Graduate

Undergraduate students should see an academic advisor prior to petitioning for graduation, and Masters, Specialist, and Doctorate students should see their Program Director prior to petitioning for graduation.

After advisement, all candidates for graduation should submit a formal petition for the degree through our online petition process. Login to Owl Express; select Student Records tab; select Petition to Graduate.

The graduation petition process initiates a petition fee assessment and an audit of academic records to determine eligibility toward the degree. Please allow four to six weeks for results of initial degree audit. Audit results are viewable at the Display Petition Status link in Owl Express, and you will be prompted by email to view status changes in addition to essential audit results and graduation policies.

Graduate Diploma Fee: $35.00

Undergraduate Diploma Fee: $30.00

Any changes to your name, degree sought, major, minor, graduation date or address must be submitted in writing to G.A.T.E.S at the Registrar Office by email to registrar@kennesaw.edu.

Petition to graduate status is "active" for a calendar year from the term of intent to graduate; e.g.,petition for Fall 2013 will remain active through Fall 2014. If the petition status becomes "inactive", students should contact the Office of the Registrar for a new petition form.
