General Information:
ROTC is a college program which puts you on the course to becoming an Officer in the United States Army. The ROTC program at Kennesaw State is growing along with the school and producing officers of character who volunteer to lead and serve our country.
Progression cadets attend ROTC classes for eight semesters at Kennesaw and become Second Lieutenants in the United States Army upon completing the program. Other cadets are lateral entry and come from other organizations, branches of the military, or schools and enter into the program.
LTC candidates are cadets who are already in college but have not entered their junior year and have not taken ROTC courses. The Leadership Training Course (LTC) is a four week camp, all expense paid, to Fort Knox, Kentucky which qualifies cadets to begin the Advance Course their junior year.
Approximately two thirds of the cadets in the program are also in the Simultaneous Membership Program (SMP). SMP allows cadets to be cadets and serve in their branch of choice in the Army National Guard and United States Army Reserve. ROTC has priority of training, but cadets attend drill and have the benefit of experience and are paid by their component.
Upon completion of the Leadership Development and Assessment Course (LDAC) in Fort Lewis Washington, cadets choose to assess into the Active Army, the United States Army Reserve, or the National Guard. They also select their branch choices among seventeen available options.
