Arts Dean's Endowed Scholarship

The Arts Dean's Endowed Scholarship was established to honor a rising senior who has demonstrated commitment and enthusiasm for the arts.

Selection Criteria:

full-time enrollment
declared major in an arts discipline
good academic standing
maintain a 3.0 GPA
be a rising senior

Austell/South Cobb Rotary Scholarship

The Austell/South Cobb Rotary Club Scholarship was established designating to support a deserving visual arts student.

Selection Criteria:

freshman or sophomore
art or art education major
3.5 minimum GPA in art
must reside in South Cobb County
student must submit a portfolio of their artwork
commitment and involvement beyond the classroom

Eric and Gwendolyn Brooker Voice Endowed Scholarship

Established by Gwendolyn Brooker.  Gwendolyn and the late Eric Brooker have been long-time friends of the College of the Arts at Kennesaw State University.

Cobb County Music Teachers Scholarship

The Cobb County Music Teachers Association began to donate scholarship funds to the KSU Department of Music in 1975.  The scholarship is generated from CCMTA events such as the annual Solo Festival and annual Piano-Thon.

Jo Ann Durham Endowed Arts Scholarship

The Jo Ann Durham Endowed Arts Scholarship was established by Mrs. Jo Ann Durham’s children and friends in honor of her birthday in 2005.  This scholarship is being created as a permanent honor to Mrs. Durham to provide financial assistance to students enrolled in the College of the Arts.

Selection Criteria:

enrolled full time at Kennesaw State University
declared major in a College of the Arts discipline
good academic standing
2.5 minimum GPA (must maintain)

Cynthia Feldberg Endowed Piano Scholarship

The Cynthia Feldberg Endowed Piano Scholarship was established as a permanent honor to Cynthia Feldberg to have a direct impact on students in the College of the Arts.

Dr. R. Wayne Gibson Piano and Voice Arts Scholarship

The Dr. R. Wayne Gibson Piano and Voice Arts Scholarship was established by Dr. R. Wayne Gibson to support deserving students at KSU. Dr. R. Wayne Gibson was the Chair of the Music Dept. and a long time supporter of KSU.

full-time enrollment
majoring in Music
concentrating in piano or voice
good academic standing

Glenn Hollingsworth, Jr. Memorial Scholarship (Music and Visual Arts)

The Glenn Hollingsworth, Jr. Memorial Scholarship Fund was established in memory of Glenn Hollingsworth, Jr., by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Hollingsworth, Sr., and his sister, Ms. Cynthia Hollingsworth. The scholarships are merit-based, and are available to outstanding students pursuing a degree in the College of the Arts. Three scholarships will be given each year, theatre, music and visual arts.

Selection Criteria:

high academic performance
full-time enrollment
3.0 minimum GPA
good extracurricular background
full-time enrollment
must audition and complete an essay

Additional selection:

Students who meet the above criteria will be selected based upon an application that includes a cover letter, a high school transcript and a 500-word essay indicating their reasons for pursuing a theatre major at KSU. In addition, students must undergo an audition (for performance majors) or submit a portfolio (for design majors) that will be the determining factor in selecting a student worthy of a presidential scholarship.

FlightWorks Jazz Ensemble Annual Scholarship

The FlightWorks Jazz Ensemble Annual Scholarship was established to support a deserving student who is an active member of the Jazz Ensemble at KSU.

Selection Criteria:

music major, concentrating in instrumental studies

Flo Bruns/Women’s Commerce Club Scholarship

The Flo Bruns Scholarship was established in 1997 to honor and memorialize the founder of the Women's Commerce Club. Students majoring in the arts are selected based on academic achievement and entrepreneurial spirit.

Selection Criteria:

good academic standing
3.0 minimum GPA
students majoring in the arts (music, theatre or visual arts)
preference given to students who demonstrate an entrepreneurial spirit through their extracurricular or employment activities

Brian Miller Memorial Music Scholarship

The Brian Miller Memorial Music Award or Scholarship was established by Mr. and Mrs. Robert B. Miller to support the student who has demonstrated a singular excellence in the music field. The award is not restricted to tuition and fees, and may be used by the student to buy music, instruments, and equipment.

The H. Fred Rodenhausen Endowed Music Scholarship

The H. Fred Rodenhausen Endowed Music Scholarship was established through the generous support of Mr. H. Fred Rodenhausen. The scholarship is intended to recognize and benefit students at Kennesaw State University who are pursuing a degree and who excel in musical ability.

Selection Criteria:

full-time enrollment
undergraduate students majoring in music, with outstanding abilities in musical performance at Kennesaw State University
demonstrated superior performance ability during their freshman year
3.0 minimum GPA

Thomson Salter-Salova King Art Scholarship

Mr. and Mrs. Vance King created the Salova King Foundation many years ago. Mrs. King left instructions that, after her death, when the Foundation was dissolved, the remaining funds be given to KSU, to be used as Mr. Salter, a professor in the Department of Art, saw fit.

James P. Smith Memorial Art Scholarship

The James P. Smith Memorial Art Scholarship was established in February 1990 by Mrs. Bonnie K. Smith in honor of her late son, Mr. James P. Smith.

Gretchen E. Van Roy Voice Endowed Scholarship (entering Freshman only)

The Gretchen e. Van Roy Voice Endowed Scholarship will provide financial assistance to students enrolled in the College of the Arts.  The scholarship may be used toward tuition, fees, and/or related educational or living expenses.

The Visual Arts Studies Abroad Scholarship

The Visual Arts Studies Abroad Scholarship was established to assist the Visual Arts Department in enabling more students to participate in its long standing successful study abroad programs. The scholarship is intended to recognize students at Kennesaw State University who are pursuing a degree majoring in Visual Arts.

J. David Watkins Endowed Scholarship in
Piano Performance

The J. David Watkins Endowed Scholarship Fund in Piano Performance was established in 1999 with support from Professor J. David Watkins to recognize and benefit students who excel in musical ability, i.e. piano performance.

The James T. Anderson Jr. Scholarship recognizes students who are pursuing a degree with particular emphasis on American history, fine arts, or language at KSU.

The Robert and Cheryl Moultrie Endowed Arts Scholarship was established by Robert and Cheryl Moultrie to support deserving students at Kennesaw State University.

Sam Wilhoit Jazz Endowed Scholarship in Music

Sam Wilhoit was a nationally-known musician, composer, orchestra leader, saxophonist and arranger. This scholarship, in his memory, is awarded to talented full-time undergraduate student performers or composers.

(Theatre majors for 2008-09)

The Fred D. Bentley, Sr. Scholarship fund was established in 1979 with support from Mr. and Mrs. Ruth O. Herod to recognize excellence in undergraduate students pursuing a program of study leading to a bachelor of arts degree

Glenn Hollingsworth, Jr. Memorial Scholarship (Theatre)

KSU Foundation Scholars Scholarship
(Theatre majors 2008-09)

The KSU Foundation offers undergraduate scholarships of $1,000 annually to outstanding entering freshmen at KSU. These scholarships will be awarded to the same student for up to four consecutive years of study toward a bachelor's degree, as long as the student is enrolled full-time and maintains a minimum 3.0 GPA.

entering freshmen only
undergraduate student

Robert and Alivia Lipson Endowed Arts Scholarship

The Robert and Alivia Lipson Endowed Arts, Scholarship will provide financial assistance to a student enrolled in the College of the Arts at KSU.

The Betty and Joel Siegel Theatre Scholarship was established to assist the theatre department in recruiting top students to its program.

(Theatre majors 2008-09)

The Girardot Endowed scholarship was established to recognize excellence in students in arts and science who are in need of financial support. This scholarship is available to junior, senior or graduate students studying in the School of the Arts or College of Science and Mathematics.

3.25 overall GPA
