Courses in this area emphasize the topic of aging, as opposed to specialized learning about the disciplines. Cooperating departments, collaborating in this interdisciplinary minor, have agreed to be flexible about prerequisites, which may be waived with the permission of the instructor.

To obtain the Gerontology Minor you must take one of these required courses:

SOCI 2201 Principles of Sociology
PSYC 2201 General Psychology

Required:

SOCI 3310 Introduction to Gerontology
SOCI 3320 Exploring the Aging Network
HPS 3240 Physical Activity and Health Promotion for the Older Adult

One of the Following:
HS 3322 Aging and the Family
HS 3324 Death and Dying
