Graduate Student Leadership Experience
THE PROGRAM
KSU graduate students can embark on an exciting new journey through the second annual Graduate Student Leadership Experience course (ILEC 8900). This Graduate Student Leadership Experience course is a partnership between the Graduate Student Association and the Siegel Institute for Leadership, Ethics and Character (ILEC). The course may be used as a 3-hour elective for most graduate programs at KSU.
Like an adventure through uncharted terrain, you will use the scheduled events and study topics as a compass to navigate the process of change and growth throughout this two-semester program. Your action-packed journey will provide inspiration for you to discover new strengths and talents. Your course will be marked by dynamic speakers, meetings with top companies, introspective and experiential activities full of insightful dialogues to help you discover and develop leadership abilities. Every experience will be focused on helping you accelerate and reach your true leadership potential.
In the process of this self-discovery journey, you will create a personal development plan, and develop leadership skills, strategies, and tools that you can put into action in your life. Session topics such as values, ethics, character, managing change, and collaboration will be studied. Achievement goals of the program include:
- Insight to leading authentically and intentionally
- Ability to communicate vision and purpose
- Hands-on collaboration and effective team building
- Exposure to top companies with both local and global impact
- Commitment to self-awareness, self-renewal and community
Participants in the program must attend the October kick-off retreat, and must register for ILEC 8900 Special Topics course for Spring 2011. ILEC 8900 may be used as an elective for most graduate programs at KSU, and will fulfill three credit hours toward the Siegel Institute’s Graduate Certificate in Leadership & Ethics. The total cost of this program is $300 in addition to regular tuition and fees.
