"2001 Staff Odyssey" Eighth Annual Staff Conference Oct. 4-5, 2001 The Eighth Annual Statewide Staff Council conference was held at Kennesaw State University on October 4 & 5, 2001. A total of 117 participants from 18 universities and colleges attended the conference. Thursday night kicked off the conference with a "Food Galaxy" and entertainment. Everyone ate southern BBQ while watching the talented international performers. Later that evening Dr. Daniel Papp, acting Chancellor for the University System, spoke on the upcoming budget cuts and new things happening with the Regents and the Central Office. The evening ended with a scavenger hunt where participants were sent out with clues to the buildings and returned with "treasures" from each building. This event was a huge success. Friday was a day of classes. "Laughing Your Way to Healthier Living" was an interactive, stress-free, way-to-live class. "Web Design and Creation" was a quick basic on web design, with participants creating their own web page. The "Idea Exchange" included discussions on raising money, starting a staff council, public relations, and building administrative support. The "Conflict Resolution" class was a course on how Kennesaw State University handles conflicts on campus. "Out of Harm's Way" gave participants an overview of workplace-related safety. After a full morning of classes, conference participants got to relax and laugh with the lunch speaker. After lunch, participants attended a general session on the Teacher Retirement program. Overall, conference evaluations were very positive. The KSU Staff Council can't wait to see everyone at West Georgia in the upcoming year.
