Michael Haynes has worked for KSU for only a little over a year, but in this short time has made valuable contributions to KSU. He has worked many hours on his own time developing applications that are now being widely used by the KSU community. At this time of budget cuts and hard times, the nominee has stepped up to the plate by putting in many hours of work and developing applications that have helped the University save money without having to resort to outside vendors for help. He never asks for anything in return — not even comp time. Michael has never buckled under pressure but has delivered projects on-schedule, meeting all specification. Best of all is his smiling face. He has a friendly and helping attitude that is hard to come by. Awesome job, Michael!

The Employee of the Month is supervised and awarded throughout the year by Staff Awards and Recognition Committee, made up of members of Staff Senate. Once a month, the nominations that have been gathered are put to a vote by the committee and the results determine the Employee of the month for that month (click here for the online submission form).

The Employee of the Month receives several awards, including a $100.00 check from the KSU Foundation, a $25.00 check from the KSU Bookstore, a $25.00 gift certificate to Sidelines Grill, a $5 lunch certificate from Sodexho, a framed certificate, a banner, and a parking space of their choice for the entire month.

In addition to the Staff Employee of the Month, the Staff Awards and Recognition Committee facilitates the voting for the annual general staff awards which are held annually at the Opening of School. The winners for the 2008 Staff Awards are: Patricia Tilbian - Academic Support; Kathy Rechsteiner - Administrative Support; Shane Blalock - Campus Support; Linda Sayne - Employee of the Year; and Susan Blake - Administrator of the Year.
