November -
Tisha McCalla
Elementary & Childhood Education
Tisha received three nominations in one month:
1. Tisha is well known throughout the campus for her compassion and energy.
Always friendly and personable, she is highly qualified, competent, and
knowledgeable about policies and practices of our department and of KSU, and
is able to assist all in the KSU community. Moreover, she is an ambassador
for our department, engaging our students with her exemplary customer
service. Her understanding of staff duties and issues and her leadership
among staff contribute to her strong advocacy for all university staff. In
addition, each year, she has provided assistance and countless hours of
service during weekends and evenings to assist in many annual regional,
state, university, college, and department conferences and events. Finally,
she is committed to service in her community, including volunteering at
different local shelters and at Habitat for Humanity. She is special,
dedicated, and deserving of Employee of the Month
2. Tisha has been an outstanding employee since she began working here
almost eight years ago. She is courteous, patient with faculty who forget
she has many duties other than the immediate unplanned need of faculty. Yet
Tisha makes sure that need is fulfilled quickly and courteously. She
contributes immeasurably to the success of our programs, provides direction
and counseling to our students assistants and sets an example with
professional devotion to the department. She is beloved by the graduate and
undergraduate students of our department, contributes to the university
through professional service and leadership all over campus, continuously
works toward maintaining a high level of professional development is a vital
member of the department and is seen by faculty and staff alike as
invaluable. She never leaves without making sure that those of us who need
to stay later have their staff support needs covered. Tisha is an exemplar
of what is best about Kennesaw State University and is more than a shining
star.
3. From my first day here, Tisha made me feel as if I were already a
valuable part of the department. She was honestly a key factor in my
decision to accept this position, after listening to her speak so highly of
KSU and the department. She is an intrinsically-motivated and
spiritually-guided individual. As a result, she works ethically and requires
minimal to no supervision. Tisha naturally offers personable service as well
as other department and support on a daily basis. I have never observed her
in a bad mood, nor have I ever witnessed her addressing a situation or
individual in an unenthusiastic or discourteous manner. As I continue to
become familiar with the various operations and processes at KSU, I feel
confident in knowing that I can always contact Tisha for guidance.
Interestingly, there has not been a time when she did not immediately know
the answer to any of my questions. I am truly impressed by the fact that she
has taken the time and interest in learning the various aspects of her job
and without being told to do so.
Super work, Tisha!
