I. Call to Order at 10:00 A.M by Patty Sansom
II. Traci Hubbard announced that Laurie Fernandez in Business Services was raising
money for the walk for breast cancer. Donations can be dropped off at the business
window.
III. Old Business
A. Statewide staff council conference will be Oct 4 & 5. The agenda was
attached to the meeting agenda. All members should volunteer. There was a vote
to get nametags and T-shirts made.
IV. New Business
A. Officers Elected- Bruce Harding (Chair-Elect), Claudia McNeal (Secretary),
Janese Thompson (Treasurer)
B. Motion Made by Ed Bonza to Combine and Condense Staff Council Committees.
Egg Hunt, Take Your Child to Work day and Sock Hop were condensed into the social
committee. Policy and Procedures was eliminated with the responsibilities going
to the executive committee. Any issues changed must be brought to the council
for vote. Discussion then arouse to town hall and why it was important. Town
Hall was merged into the Staff Morale Committee.
C. Items Discussed:
i. Ways to get staff council involved on campus: email and interactive webpage,
orientation, advertise
ii. Ways of improving communication and morale: email, spot within Staff Connections,
newsletter for plant ops., partner within plant ops, articles in Access
iii. Ways of soliciting feedback from staff body- solution/problem box, bring
those problems that affect everyone to Dr. Siegel
iv. Discussion on concessions: advertise, share experiences, Amy Phillips suggested
to make a competition (between areas: i.e. business and finance, academic).
