Personal & Professional Development Workshop –“Choose Work Consciously”

Huge potholes exist for the majority of the workforce as they navigate their journey to a “real” work-life connection. For many, these gaps in their approach to entering the world of work began early along their educational journey and continued into their postsecondary experience, which resulted in many temporary and permanent detours from work that matters. We are schooled, counseled and at times frightened into believing that a successful transition into the world of work is primarily determined by external factors – social, cultural, political and economic, which minimizes or excludes factors that make up the individual – biological, psychological and spiritual.

We live in an unprecedented time of possibility, which demands a different and more intimate conversation about work, transition and choice. Many don’t simply want a job or even a career, they have their sights set on something more – work that aligns with the best of who they are, what they value most and what they want to contribute in the world. Adult learners are part of this shift and many have turned to higher education because they’re in search of work that matters and eager to find out how to make this a reality.

These are just a few of the topics we'll address:

Why it all begins with the question, "Why did I decide to return and/or attend college?"

  • The difference between securing a job/career vs. identifying your life's work.
  • Why it is NOT too late to shift your work life in a new and more meaningful direction
  • Three ways of being that block adult learners from sharing their super powers in the world.
  • The benefits of your already acquired knowledge and experience and how to use it to your advantage.
  • What you need to be doing NOW to facilitate a smooth and successful transition from college to work
