  Academic Credit Options

Our advising staff can help you understand additional academic credit options. Although Kennesaw State University currently does not offer the Prior Learning Assessment, KSU students can still receive credit through the following methods:

CLEP Testing
Examinees must be a currently registered student at Kennesaw State University in order to be tested at KSU. Students will not be permitted to take a CLEP exam or to receive credit by examination for a course in which the student is currently or was previously enrolled, unless the student withdrew from the course within the drop/add registration period. Click Here for more information at Testing Services.

Advanced Standing Exams: Departmental Credit by Exam

Students who offer satisfactory evidence may receive credit for a course by an examination for advanced standing. Click Here for a link to the Application For Advanced Standing Examination. Return form to the Office of the Registrar.

Military Transfer Credit Policy

Effective fall 2012, new students accepted to Kennesaw State University who have served in the U.S. Military may have their military training and experience considered for transfer credit.  Up to12 semester hours of elective transfer credits may be applied to a degree program if applicable.

Kennesaw State University limits academic residency for active-duty service members (including full-time active-duty Reservists and National Guardsmen) to no more than twenty-five percent of the degree requirements for all undergraduate degrees.  Active-duty service members can satisfy academic residency requirements at any time during their program of study, specifically avoiding any final year or final semester residency requirement, subject to stated requirements in specific course areas such as majors. Click Here for the Policy.
