About Our Adult Learner Recognition Day
Why an Adult Learner Recognition Ceremony?
The Ceremony and Reception
- The invitation-only ceremony and reception honors adult
learner students who have shown success in coping with numerous roles (e.g.,
work, school, and family), have overcome difficult circumstances to
pursue higher education needs, and have taken innovative approaches to
reach their goals.
- The event will be held on Thursday, April 9, 2009, at 3:00 pm in the Leadership Room on the second floor of the Carmichael Student Center.
Qualifications
- To be eligible, the student must meet
the criteria that are used to define an adult learner attending KSU.
- Greater consideration for recognition will be given to nominees' graduating in 2009.
- Must be nominated by faculty, staff, or
students
Submitting a Nomination
- Nominations for the April 9, 2009, ceremony will be accepted between February 16 and March 16, 2009.
- Please download the nomination instructions and essay cover form from the link below. The nomination essay should be typed and address the following:
How your nominee has overcome obstacles while pursuing his/her education here at Kennesaw State University. Address difficulties and how they were successfully overcome. The essay should also include some biographical information.
- The cover form and the nomination essay
should be submitted to Todd Powell in the Lifelong Learning Center no
later than March 16, 2009. If you have any questions, you may contact him
at telephone number 770-499-3144 or in room 264B of the Carmichael
Student Center.
- The Selection Committee is made up of the president of the Adult Learner Sudent Organization (who is excluded from being nominated) and the Adult Learner Programs staff.
