Attention: Transcript Evaluations Can be appealed with the Undergraduate Course Substitution Form When the Registrar does your transcript evaluation, they are doing the best they can with the information they can deem from your past transcripts. Due to differing suffices at different institutions, is not always clear what can be accepted and what not. Especially courses being specifically accepted and assigned to KSU courses. To be most successful, get documentation from your old school for course descriptions to attach to the form. It does not matter how long ago the course was, you can go to their website or acquire old catalogs through their library system. The time it takes to do your research for past course descriptions will pay off in you not having to take a course you have already taken somewhere else and can shorten your time to graduate. There are two areas where you can appeal: undergraduate general education requirements and major courses. When appealing that a past course be accepted for one of the "core" or general education requirements, you will need to acquire the signature of the Chair of the department in which the course is offered. For example, you would go to the Math department for math or to the English department for English, etc.) The second area you can appeal for courses to be accepted would be in your area of major study. If the courses are in the Lower Division Major Requirements, this needs to be noted on the form. Again, you need the signature of the Chair of the department the course is offered. Major or minor course appeals must be made by the chair of the department the course is offered. Please allow time for the appeals. Do not assume that you can walk in and get signatures right away; you may have to leave the form. The Registrar will contact you in writing whether or not your appeal has been approved. The substitution is not final until all signatures are obtained and the form is on file in the Office of Registrar.
