On the Other Hand
Video Series on Sign Language Instruction, with workbook

"On the Other Hand" consists of a series of 20 videotape 30-minute lessons designed to give the beginning to intermediate level student basic knowledge about both sign language and the deaf community. The series teaches a basic sign vocabulary and introduces many of the grammatical features and principles of American Sign Language (ASL) and Pidgin Sign English. Historical facts as well as more recent information about deafness and sign language are provided. The study guide is intended to supplement and reinforce the information presented in the videotapes.

In each videotape, the hosts guide you through a sequence of activities that presents new sign vocabulary, linguistic principles, and insights into deaf culture. The study guide is organized so that one chapter accompanies each of the videotapes.
