Academic Advising

It is confusing to know exactly what courses you need to take to get your degree, so each student has an academic advisor. This person will help you with questions regarding your educational objectives and course requirements. We can assist you in locating this person. As an international student, you must stay in good academic standing. Also, you must not drop below 12 credit hours per semester in order to remain a full-time student if you are an undergraduate student. Graduate students must maintain at least 9 credit hours to remain in status with INS.

ESL Services

The KSU Department of University Studies and the ESL Program provide testing to help determine the level of your understanding fo the English language. You can visit the ESL Study and Tutorial Center located in room 442 of the Library on your own (a self-referral) or an instructor may refer you to get additional assistance with speaking and/or writing the English language. The number is 770-423-6377.

Tutoring for Math and English

KSU provides a Math Lab that can help you determine your level of mathematics competency. This Lab also provides peer tutoring. The Lab is located on the fourth floor of the Library and is open daily, including weekends.

If you need individual tutoring for an hour, come to the Cultural Awareness and Resource Center, Student Center room 263, and sign up for an appointment with a student math tutor. Adult Learner Programs also provides a math tutor through the Lifelong Learning Center,
Student Center room 261.

If you need assistance with your writing, visits the Writing Center, 237 Humanities Bldg. The hours vary, so call in advance to 770-423-6380. Adult Learner Programs also provides a writing tutor.
