Mailings

Along with your name, you need to let your friends and family know your address immediately. Don't risk having your mail sent to 1000 Chastain Road. It is an incomplete, incorrect address because no one lives at Kennesaw State University. You risk not receiving your mail. If you change your address, remember to notify the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), the Registrar's Office, the Admissions Office, the Office of International Student Retention Services and the Institute for Global Initiatives every time you move.

There may be a time when you want to send a message and it needs to get there right away. Western Union Telegraph Company may be the answer. It carries telegrams within the United States. Messages may be dictated over the telephone by calling 1(800) 325-6000 Western Union. They will bill the home telephone or a major credit card. If the message is to go overseas cablegram or radiogram will be used. The charge is based on the number of words in the message and the distance.

If you want to send a package you can start with the post office. The Barrett Parkway Branch Post Office at 840 Ernest Barrett Parkway (in the shopping center near Play It Again Sports) and the Kennesaw Post Office at 2001 Duncan Drive NW are close to KSU. It ships packages within the US and overseas. However, private companies can also ship packages. Some even provide overnight guarantees. Find out the cost per pound and cost based on the distance. Some of the more popular companies are FedEx (Federal Express), Greyhound Package Express, MailBoxes Etc., and UPS (United Parcel Service).

Don't forget your zip codes. They help direct your mail and speed delivery. It makes things easier all around. If you don't know a zip code (the five or nine digits after the city and state on an envelope) you can call the post office at 1(800) ASK USPS or 1(800) 275-8777. They will give you this information. If you are at the post office, they will have a Zipcode Directory on one of the customer counters.
