Dear Fellow International Students,
Home might seem far away but
We have chosen to come to a strange land
"our new home" either temporarily or permanently
We have made this change for various reasons
We will overcome our trials and tribulations
As we live and learn in this strange land
Home might never seem close by but
Our bad times will pass away quickly and
Our good times will stay because
We are never alone since we have each other.
Welcome to America and Kennesaw State University

My fellow International student:
How wonderful it is to have you here. Welcome to KSU!!
KSU has a strong International community and the university moves steadily in the quest for diversity. Some of us have found a haven in it away from home. With the cultural week and the homecoming queen festivals and not forgetting the new born beauty pageant plus many more. . . . you should find a place in it to play a pivotal role to enrich this nucleus of the globe that we are a part of.
You can never know how much your own potential means a lot to WE the ISA brethrens until you take a step and play a role in it. I am sure everybody will. It is only then that we too can move together in the search for that higher goal of demystifying the cultures of the globe that have always been a mystery to many of us. Have a wonderful stay here as you play your role!!….I can assure you that I have had one myself.

Dear International Students:
I welcome you to Kennesaw State University. My name is Gabriel Sanchez, and I am the liaison for Latin American countries. As an international student, i congratulate you in your effort and courage to come to a foreign country, with a different culture and a different language. I admire your eagerness to widen your cultural awareness.
Even though the transition from home to the United States might seem difficult at first, there are several organizations that will help you make this transition easier for you. International Student Association is a student organization that promotes understanding among cultures. It offers a vareity of activities in which you can get involved and show all of us a little about your culture. Also, Miss Charmayne Richardson will do her best effort to make you feel at home.
I truly hope that your stay in the United States is a pleasant one. I truthfully believe that you will achieve your goals because you have what it takes to make this a better place for everyone: Faith, Courage, and Knowledge. Keep this the center of all your work.
Peace to all of you,
Gabriel Sanchez
Liaison for Latin America
Spanish Club President

Dear International Students,
My name is Pamela Koeferl and I am an international student from Germany. I am also the student assistant for Charmayne Richardson, the head of the Office of International Student Retention Services. I see a lot of students from different countries every day and most of them are looking for help because they are not familiar with this country, its cultures or this university. I wanted to let you know that you should feel free to come by this office any time to ask questions, any kind of questions, even if they are of personal matter. Charmayne and I will try to help as much as we can. It can be very hard to get around as a foreigner. There is absolutely no reason why you should be left hanging and desperate just because you don't know.
This is a great university, especially for international students. Right now, in fall 2001, we have 1059 international students from 114 different countries. If you join some of the organizations that the college has to offer, you will also meet a lot of them. You are not alone. A lot of people will know how you feel and will be available for help. You just need to let them know.
Take care and enjoy your time here at KSU and make the best of it.
Pamela Koeferl
Student Assistant
