  International Student Orientation

Fall 2015 Orientation:

Mandatory orientations take place each Fall and Spring semester. For details and times, please contact the Office of International Student Retention Service at (470) 578-4392 or e-mail Brandy Rivera at briver10@kennesaw.edu.

All newly accepted F1 and J1 visa students are required to attend an International Student Orientation before attending your first semester at Kennesaw State University (KSU). Other international students holding other visa statuses are encouraged to attend and participate in this informative program.

The International Student Orientation provide information that will help you transition to living in the United States and also introduce you to services and programs that will help you succeed in your academic journey at Kennesaw State University. You will also meet other international and American KSU students and peer leaders.  You will also get a chance to meet and interact with members of the International Student Association and other student leaders of organizations at KSU.

The information provided will help you stay maintain your international student status and remain eligible for benefits such as the Optional Practical Training (OPT) when you graduate, if that is your plan. Also included will be information on registering with Social Security, filing income taxes, and obtaining a Georgia driver's license, as well as much more information you will need during your stay in the United States. The Orientation Manual (link below) contains the information listed above and will help you with most every question you could have, plus supplies, locations, emails, phone numbers, and other pertinent information about all the services and departments at KSU and in the United States. You will also find out about employment on campus and academic support services available to you.

You will receive information via your personal email, provided when you applied to KSU, and an email to your official student address. You can also check the International Student Retention Services (ISRS) website to find the scheduled date, time, and location each semester.

You are encouraged to also attend a general student orientation presented by the Orientation and Transition Programs Office. The general student orientation sessions provide additional information about KSU as well as academic advisement and registration for classes. Freshman orientation sessions and transfer orientation sessions are scheduled multiple times each semester. To find out more information, visit their website.
