Mandatory orientation takes place each semester.
For details and times, please contact the office
of International Student Retention Service at
770-420-4392 or e-mail
codera1@kennesaw.edu.
All newly
accepted F1 visa students are required to attend
an International Student Orientation before
attending your first semester at KSU. Other international
students are encouraged to attend and
participate in this informative program.
The
International Student Orientation will help you
stay in status and remain eligible for Optional
Practical Training (OPT) when you graduate, if
that is your desire. It will also give you
information that will assist you in adjusting to
KSU and excelling academically.
The
International Orientation will include information about visas
and the Student and Exchange Visitor Information
System (SEVIS) which tracks international
students and shares the data with the United
States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS).
Also included will be information on registering
with Social Security, filing income taxes, and
obtaining a Georgia driver's license. Much more information will be shared at International Orientation. The Orientation Manual (link below)l will help you with most every question you could have, plus supplies locations, emails, phone numbers, and other pertinent information about all the services and departments at KSU. You will
also find out about employment on campus and
academic support services available to you.
International Student Orientation sessions are
scheduled every semester. You will receive
information via your personal mail and email at your official
student address. You can also check the SDC
Calendar of Activities to find the scheduled
date, time, and location each semester.
You are
encouraged to also attend a general student
orientation presented by the CAPS Center. The
general student orientation sessions provide
additional information about KSU as well as
academic advisement and registration for
classes. Freshman orientation sessions and
transfer orientation sessions are scheduled
multiple times each semester.
