Atlanta Ronald McDonald House	Atlanta and Dunwoody	Volunteers are needed greet and welcome families and visitors, register families, answer telephone, help keep kitchen and public areas organized, assist volunteer groups with the evening meal, provide home-cooked meals for families. More Information
The Carter Center	Atlanta	Volunteers needed in office support and special events. Note: Office support must work one day a week and special events volunteers work late in the evening and weekdays. Depending on the number of openings, there are two student slots per weekday. The shifts are generally from 9 am-1 pm and 1-5 pm. Background check required - agency does.

Atlanta Humane Society	Atlanta Alpharetta	Help protect animals from cruel environments through education, adoptions, clinic, lost and found, and the animal shelter. More Information
Forgotten Paws Dog Rescue	Atlanta	Volunteer will clean, feed/water, walk, assist with adoptions, and socialize with the dogs and cats living in a no-kill shelter. (Adoption Days on Sunday!)
Fulton County Animal Shelter	Atlanta	Volunteers are needed to help with cleaning, walking, assisting with laundry and dishes, helping customers, and sweeping/mopping shelter floors. Volunteers are especially needed to help walk dogs in the mornings.
Furkids	Petsmarts & Petcos Edgewood Alpharetta Roswell Sandy Springs Buckhead Midtown Alpharetta	Volunteers care for the basic needs of the animals at the Adoption Centers or shelter by providing love, fresh food and water, and cleaning the cages.
Georgia Canine Companions for Independence	Various	Canine Companions for Independence is a non-profit organization that enhances the lives of people with disabilities by providing highly trained assistance dogs and ongoing support to ensure quality partnerships. Volunteers are only needed to assist with special events that are scheduled throughout the year. German Shepherd Dog Rescue	Roswell	Volunteers needed to assist with special scheduled weekend events and weekdays/nights to make phone calls. Any special events will be posted on the Dated Events page. Note: No volunteer hours given for fostering pets.
Georgia SPCA	Johns Creek	Volunteers are needed to assist with the Adoption Days that are held at Petsmart on Saturday and Sunday. All new volunteers must attend an orientation that is held once or twice a month.

LifeLine Animal Project	College Park	Volunteers are needed in the following areas: caring for the animals in the Dog House and Kitty Motel, Spay & Neuter Clinic, Pet Adoptions at local shelters, Transporting, Construction/Painting/Landscaping, and Administrative type work. • Arts & Exhibits

Atlanta Ballet	Atlanta	Volunteers will help in all areas of the Ballet, including development, marketing, education, and the box office. Duties cover office assistance - filing, mass mailings, organizing, data entry, etc. Additionally, the Ballet is looking for motivated, energetic volunteers who are interested in coming semi-regularly, once a week or once a month. These volunteers will help with last minute as well as long-term projects.

Atlanta History Center	Atlanta	Individuals are needed to assist with tours, clerical work, in the garden, membership services, special demonstrations, and special events.
Center for Puppetry Arts	Atlanta	Volunteer areas include the following: museum docent, create-a-puppet workshops, library, evening events, birthday parties, and administration. Fernbank Science Center	Atlanta	Help encourage learning and an interest in nature and the environment.
Georgia Aquarium	Atlanta	Volunteers are needed for gallery interpretation, special events, preparing food for fish/animals, educational, helping school groups tour the aquarium, behind the scenes support, diving, etc. $60 non-refundable administrative fee. High Museum of Art	Atlanta	Volunteer opportunities Tuesday-Sunday. Times range from 10am-1pm or 1-4pm during the day. There are also lectures, films, and special events that can be after 5pm. Acceptance into volunteer program is determined after review of application and attending an orientation (held 4 times a year). Please note – minimum length of service is 6 months.  Volunteers also get free admission to the museum and discounted parking, other incentives are offered throughout the year!
Museum of Design Atlanta	Atlanta	MODA examines how design affects our daily lives through engaging exhibitions, K-12 educational outreach, and exciting adult programming. MODA regularly features exhibitions on architecture, industrial and product design, interiors and furniture, graphics, fashion, and more.  Volunteers needed to help in office, for Thursday night special events, and to help with opening and closing of each show. Note: Minimum length of service is 4-5 hours each shift.
Refuge Dance Company	Metro Atlanta	Volunteers are needed to work on a variety of projects. Usually performing arts related or in support of performing arts activities. Please note, projects are held in specific locations in the Atlanta area. There is also an ongoing need for office-related work that volunteers can complete offsite. Note: Next shows are November 2011.
The Atlanta Opera	Atlanta and Cobb Energy Centre	Volunteers needed who are available during work week to assist with administrative work such as filing, mailings, and receptionist coverage. Volunteers are also needed at other hours to assist with their marketing by attending special events at local venues and registering patrons at the events. Volunteers can assist at the theatre as greeters, in the gift shop, and at the customer service tables throughout the theatre. The volunteers who assist in the Education Department create fun crafts, assist with student activities, and work to schedule programs at local schools.  Orientation held at each event as needed. Must also complete volunteer form. Note: No court volunteers.
Woodruff Arts Center	Atlanta	Volunteers are needed to assist with various assignments that support the day-to-day operations of the Center. For example: Marketing, Development, Ushering, Administration, and Commmunication/Special Events.

Ahimsa House, Inc.	Atlanta	Ahimsa House helps the human and animal victims of domestic violence reach safety together. Ahimsa House provides three primary programs: Emergency Animal Safehouse Services, 24-Hour Crisis Line, and Professional Outreach and Community Education. More Information
AID Atlanta	Atlanta	Help provide a broad compassionate response to the HIV epidemic through advocacy, service, and education. Volunteer needs info here. Orientation and AIDS 101 seminar required. Orientation held 2nd Wednesday and 4th Tuesday 6-8 pm. Background check required - volunteer must pay for. May need TB test.
Catholic Charities	Atlanta	Adult and children tutoring programs and provides resources to a variety of those in need. Example - pregnant women, low income individuals and families, and the homeless. More Information about their volunteer needs
DreamWeavers of Georgia	Alpharetta	Agency that provides various resources to children in the foster care system. Volunteers can serve as office assistants or assist with special events scheduled throughout the year. Office hours: M-F 9 am - 6 pm.
Embraced Atlanta, Inc.	Atlanta	Embraced is a non-profit organization that collects and shares gently-used orthopedic and prosthetic equipment with individuals in need. Embraced sets up collection bins in doctor offices, physical therapy clinics, etc., which serve as a convenient means for the public to donate their medical equipment. Embraced then redistributes this equipment to individuals in need, both locally and globally. Volunteer opportunities include, but are not limited to: marketing their services to agencies that can benefit from their services, collecting and entering data, special events work, and assisting with grant writing. Saturday is the day when volunteers sort medical equipment. Students must complete an orientation.
Faith, Hope, Adoption	Atlanta	Volunteer opportunities include: Assisting with fundraising event planning and reserach Serving as community liaisons Volunteer group leader/organizer General administration (mailings, creating flyers, etc.) Orientation required. Held on Fridays, by conference call when necessary.
Foster Care Support Foundation	Roswell	Volunteers are needed to sort clothing, toys and shoes, act as shopping assistants, care for foster children. More Information
Georgia Equality	Atlanta	Volunteers serve as advocates for the LGTB community by participating in community outreach programs - political and educational. Volunteers are needed to assist with data entry, mass mailings, online research, and special events.
Goodwill of North Georgia	Atlanta Decatur Duluth Tucker Woodstock	Volunteers are needed to assist in the Career Centers. Volunteers will help clients seeking jobs and micro-business owners by assisting them with office-related needs. This may include: internet access, faxing, making copies/phone calls, and any other resources they might need for job searches or business development. More Information
Hands on Atlanta	Atlanta	Volunteers can register for a variety of different volunteer opportunities throughout the Metro Altanta area that range from working with children to serving food at a homeless shelter. More Information
HomeStretch	Roswell	Homestretch guides homeless working families with minor children in North Metro Atlanta toward increased self-reliance and stability by providing life skills training, mentoring, and supportive housing. Volunteer opportunities are available in the following major areas: administration, property, and family programs.  Administration: General office work – answer phones, greet visitors, and assist staff with clerical projects; Special projects – create newsletters, direct mailings, and stuffing envelopes; Computer work – as needed for special and on-going projects (using Excel and Word); Assist with fund-raising events held throughout the year. Property: Assist with renovation and landscaping projects at their duplex and town homes. Includes demolition, painting, cleaning, lawn work, and maintenance. Family Program: Teach a life-skills class to our participants on topics relevant to self-sufficiency. Topic examples include budgeting, checkbook balancing, and home/car maintenance.  Volunteers needed Tuesdays and Saturdays.
Human Rights Campaign	Atlanta	Volunteers serve as advocates for the LGTB community by participating in community outreach and educational programs. Additionally, volunteers are needed to work on special events/projects that are scheduled throughout the year. Must be LGTB or an advocate for the LGTB community.
Jewish Family Services	Atlanta	Assist family service counseling and programs with the "lifecycle of services" for individuals and families in 12-county metro-Atlanta area.
Living Room	Atlanta	Living Room serves individuals and families living with HIV/AIDS in metro Atlanta by providing subsidized supportive housing, housing referrals and housing-related emergency assistance. Our goal is to help our clients’ access and maintain permanent, affordable housing. Volunteers help in a variety of ways depending on their interests and the needs of the organization. Orientation by appointment; background check - agency does. TB test may be required.
Lutheran Services of Georgia (LSG)	Atlanta	LSG offers a wide variety of volunteer opportunities within each of their program areas. This includes: Foster Care, Family Visitation, Adoption, Development Disabled Services, Refugee Resettlement, and Disaster Response. For more information, please visit their website. Volunteers needed M-F from 9 am - 5 pm and Saturday mornings. If volunteer is going to have access to client information, signing a confidentiality agreement is required. MADD GA	Atlanta	Organization that fights against under-aged drinking and drinking & driving. Volunteers are needed to provide clerical support, advocate for this cause, and work on special projects/events.
Mary Hall Freedom House	Atlanta	Agency that helps displaced women with children suffering from addiction, poverty, and homelessness find the resources needed to become productive citizens. Men Stopping Violence	Decatur	Offers a 24-week class for men who have been abusive to their female partners and want to work to change. Also trains professionals in working with men who batter and educates community groups about domestic violence.
North Fulton Community Charities	Roswell	Food pantry and thrift store. Minimum 2 hours per volunteer shift; maximum of 5 hours per shift. More Information
Not for Sale	Atlanta	Work on special projects that are geared towards ending slavery/human trafficking and promoting awareness about this subject.
SafeRide America	Atlanta	Volunteers work in teams (volunteer and employee). An employee drives the customer (impaired driver) in the customer's own vehicle, and volunteer follows in own car. More Information
Ten Thousand Villages	Atlanta	Volunteer duties include the following: helping customers with their needs, handling money, sales of merchandise, assisting with visual merchandise, and opening/closing the store. Orientation is required and held one week prior to your start date. Additionally, minimum length of service is at least one (1) shift per month. Shift times vary!

Furniture Bank of Metro Atlanta	Atlanta	The Furniture Bank provides free essential household furniture to individuals and families moving out of homeless shelters, living with HIV/AIDS, or fleeing domestic violence situations. More Information
Hosea Feed the Hungry	Atlanta	Day Center - Prepare food boxes, distribute food boxes, and assist in the warehouse near Turner Field. Every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 10:30 am - 2 pm
Project Open Hand	Atlanta	Open Hand helps people prevent or better manage chronic disease through Comprehensive Nutrition Care, which combines home-delivered meals and nutrition education as a means to reinforce the connection between informed food choices and improved quality of life.  More Information
Safehouse Outreach	Atlanta	Volunteer opportunities are available in the mail room and Urban Center. Volunteers in the Urban Center will help in the clothing closet by sorting donations and doing some light cleaning as needed. Volunteers must attend an orientation that is held upon arrival for your shift. Hours can vary as long as staff is also at the Urban Center.

• Elderly Care, Disabled, Hospice

A.G. Rhodes Health & Rehab	Marietta Atlanta	Long-term nursing home that needs volunteers to participate in different activities, including playing cards, playing board games, book clubs, and scrapbooking. More Information
Aseracare Hospice	Atlanta	Volunteers will work with clients who are living in a nursing home, including sitting reading, and playing games with the residents.  Background check required - agency does. Orientation required - held Mondays or Tuesdays by appointment. Volunteers needed everyday; mornings, afternoons, early evening. Note: Minimum length of service is to visit with patients at least one hour per session.
Atlanta BEEP Base/Kickball	Atlanta	Volunteers needed to help guide visually impaired players, serve as safety monitors during play, and assist players with drills. Most players are from The Center for the Visually Impaired in Atlanta. BEEP Baseball season is from now until June 11, 2011. After baseball season, kickball season will begin. Baseball sessions are held every Saturday from 10:00 am - 12:30 pm. Kickball sessions will start on June 1, and typically are held during the week and/or weekend. Volunteers must commit to 1 season of play, but volunteering for 3 - 4 Saturdays will be okay. Information regarding the orientation process will be emailed to interested volunteers.
Chastain Horse Park	Atlanta	Assist riders and lead the horses during therapy sessions. Minimum length of service is one lesson each week. No set number of hours required. Must attend 2-hour orientation offered 3rd Saturday of each month.
FOCUS	Acworth Atlanta Marietta	Individuals needed to assist with respite care for children who have been diagnosed with a variety of developmental delays. Volunteers are also needed to provide administrative assistance. Minimum length of service is 5 hours per week.
Make-A-Wish Foundation	Atlanta	Volunteers needed to work directly with wish children & their families. Days/times are flexible as volunteers are allowed to determine time/date that works best with their and families' schedules. Background check required - cost to volunteers is $12. William Breman Jewish Home	Atlanta	Volunteers are needed to work in a variety of different activities that help to promote the happiness of clients living in long-term nursing home. Please note that they are looking for volunteers who speak Russian or Yiddish.

Autrey Mill Nature Preserve & Heritage Center	Johns Creek	Volunteers are needed to help maintain the trails, help create new trails, plant flowers, and other preservation tasks. Need volunteers M-Sa 10 am - 4 pm. Saturdays are best day. Must stay at least two hours.
Chattahoochee Nature Center	Roswell	Provide assistance in a variety of areas, including wildlife care, ground maintenance, special events, and store staffing.
Georgia State Parks & Historical Sites	Atlanta	Volunteers needed to maintain campgrounds and golf courses, general volunteers to help with the day-to-day activities at the parks, and volunteers to help with special events that are scheduled year round.

The Nature Conservancy	Atlanta	The Nature Conservancy is the leading conservation organization working around the world to protect ecologically important lands and waters for nature and people. Volunteer opportunities include: serving as a tour guide at various locations, cleaning trails and rivers, removing invasive plants, and assisting with stewardship workdays. This agency sponsors different events throughout the state of Georgia.

Truly Living Well Center for Natural Urban Agriculture	Atlanta East Point Riverdale	Truly Living Well works to engage the community in developing local food systems through educations and food production. TLW manages 5-6 farm sites in and around metro Atlanta to increase access to food for all. Their goal is to demonstrate agriculture as a sustainable and economic solution for helping people to eat and live better. Volunteers will have the opportunity to work in the following areas: gardening, planting, mulching, making compost, harvesting, farm maintenance activities, event planning, hosting booths, assisting with the market, and sharing information with others. Upper Chattahoochee Riverkeeper	Cobb Fulton	Upper Chattahoochee Riverkeeper provides a number of different volunteer opportunities for people interested in helping to preserve the Chattahoochee River and its watershed through programs in education, community outreach, policy reform, and legal actions. From working all day at a festival or assisting with river clean-ups, there's something available for everyone's skill level, interest and physical ability. Alzheimers Association	Atlanta	Provides support, training, education, and advocacy to family members, professional caregivers, and others. Supports research for the prevention, cure, and treatment of Alzheimers.  Volunteers needed 9am-5pm Mondays-Friday.
Atlanta Medical Center	Atlanta	Health care provider.
Atlanta Track Club	Atlanta	Volunteers will assist promoters with special scheduled races throughout the metro Atlanta area. Volunteers might bbe responsible for passing out t-shirts, water, and helping with registration. This agency sponsors the Peachtree Road Race. Link to upcoming events
Children's Healthcare of Atlanta	Atlanta	College Volunteer Program Volunteers will work in different assigned areas of the hospital. Volunteers must be willing to volunteer for 3-4 hours per week for 12 weeks during Fall and Spring semesters. Background check required - agency does. Community Advance Practice Nurses, Inc. Volunteers not needed at this time.	Atlanta	This clinic is run by nurse practitioners who provide preventive community health care and referrals for the homeless. Services include: immunizations, screenings, pregnancy tests, physical examinations, and such. Minimum length of service is 3 months. Background check required - volunteer must provide. Orientation required - held at various times during the year.
Crohn & Colitis Foundation	Atlanta	Volunteers needed to work in the following areas, including clerical support, advocacy, patient assistance, and special projects/events.
Cystic Fibrosis	Atlanta	Help with general office and clerical duties and assist with fundraising efforts.

Epilepsy Foundation of Georgia	Atlanta	Assists individuals with epilepsy/seizure disorders to develop job skills and obtain employment. Education program provides seminars to schools and other civic/professional organizations. Client services coordinates support groups and assist the parent/family network. Background check only required if helping with camp.
Families First	Atlanta	Help provide counseling as well as other supportive services to individuals and families, striving to promote the well-being of children and to conserve and strengthen individual and family life.

Hillside, Inc.	Atlanta	Hillside is a private, non-profit organization licensed as a psychiatric residential treatment facility in Georgia. Individuals are needed to mentor or tutor, help with landscaping, or assist with one of their fundraising activities. Minimum length of service is one (1) hour per week. March of Dimes	Atlanta	Seeks to improve the health of babies by preventing birth defects and infant mortality. Assist with clerical duties and special events for the March of Dimes Walk America program.

Atlanta Day Shelter for Women and Children	Atlanta	Help women by giving job counseling, on-site computer training, and job readiness training. More Information
Central Night Shelter	Atlanta	Central Night Shelter offers a meal, shelter for the night, and bagged lunches the next morning to those individuals in need. Volunteers can choose to cook a meal, make lunches, spend the night, or do all three. Only men stay at this shelter, but women are more than welcome to volunteer. Overnight volunteers help set up, eat the evening meal with the men, and take turns staying awake through the night. Dinner volunteers make the meal ahead of time and deliver and serve the men. Lunch volunteers will create the bagged lunches before the men leave the shelter in the morning. Volunteers must attend an orientation that is held when you arrive the first day of service.
Crossroads Community Ministries	Atlanta	Volunteers are needed for the following assignments: Crossroads Kitchen - help prepare and serve a morning meal for about 250 homeless guests Monday - Friday. One-time and ongoing volunteer opportunities are available. Mail Room - sort, route, and deliver mail to the proper recipients. Assignment is ongoing and volunteers work one regular weekday morning Monday - Friday from 8:00 am - 11:00 am.
Gateway Center	Atlanta	The Gateway Center is a homeless service organization for men, women, and women with children. The Center provides transitional housing, shelter, and other basic services. Volunteers can choose to work in a variety of settings including: Helping with meal preparation Tutoring children Working in the clothing closet Sorting in-kind donations Supervising the computer lab Leading AA or NA groups Job Training and Interview Training Mentoring Art Projects and Mural Painting IT Support and Hardware Client Engagement Assistance Special Drives (i.e. Coats, Packaged Food Drives, Towels, etc.) Agency will accept current background check; volunteers must get at own cost. Orientation is required and held on a monthly basis at The Gateway Center. Orientation typically lasts for one hour, and you can count this time towards your service hours. Jars of Clay	Atlanta	This agency runs a day and night shelter. Also a summer camp for high risk children from May to August. Volunteer opportunities in the shelter range from assisting with GED classes to helping in the soup kitchen. Volunteers in the summer camp read to children, play games, and participate in other camp related activities. Volunteers are needed in the shelter 7 days a week. Orientations are required and will be held the first day of service.

Alexsander Academy	Alpharetta	Volunteers will work with students one-on-one on reading or math skills, support teachers in classrooms while working with the students in a group, create lesson ideas, make copies, and create materials for students. Andrew P. Stewart Center	Atlanta	Provides programs (self-esteem, life enrichment) for women, youth, and young children in the Reynoldstown community. Additionally, the agency asks the volunteers for a $20 donation to cover the cost of the check.
