Notes to Students:

  • Don't forget to come by the VKSU office to pick up your Service Verification Form.
  • Agency contact info will be provided with your Service Verification Form.
  • Students must then contact agency directly for days/times of volunteering availability.
  • Most agencies that deal directly with people on a one-on-one basis require a background check.
  • You cannot get credit for volunteering at your place of employment.


Boys & Girls Club - Paulding Dallas Assist program instructors, help children wit homework, and work on special projects. Hours: Monday-Friday from 1:00 - 8:00 pm.
Jennifer's Pet Rescue Hiram Volunteers are needed to help walk, feed/water, and socialize the dogs at weekend adoptions. Adoptions are held at the Petsmart in Hiram on Saturdays from 9:30 am - 6:30 pm and Sundays from 10:45 am - 6:30 pm.
McKenna Farms Therapy Services Dallas Provides physical, occupational, and speech therapy services for children with special needs. More Information
Paulding County Animal Control Dallas Volunteers are needed to assist with cleaning, feeding/watering, walking, medicating, bathing, assisting the public with finding animals to adopt, and socializing with the animals. More Information
Paulding County DFCS (Family and Children Services Division) Dallas Volunteers are needed to assist with various administrative duties, and to maintain the cleanliness of the visitation rooms that are utilized by the clients. Volunteers are needed Monday - Friday between the hours of 9:00 am - 6:00 pm. Agency will require a background check only if volunteers have direct contact with the clients. Need to commit to volunteer a minimum of ten hours.

Paulding Pregnancy Hiram Volunteer opportunities are available to assist office staff with various administrative and clerical duties. Please note, volunteers are required to give a day a week of service during the hours of 9:00 am – 1:00 pm. Additionally, volunteers are needed to serve as Peer Counselors. These counselors help support women during their whole pregnancy with various issues or concerns that might come up. Individuals must be 21 year or older to serve as a Peer Counselor. Peer Counselors are required to attend a 6 week training program, complete a background check, and commit to one year of service.

Shepherd's Rest Ministries Dallas Shepherd's Rest provides a safe house and services to women and children who have been displaced from their home due to domestic violence. Volunteer tasks may include, but not limited to, the following: light office duties, warehouse work, fundraising events, lawn maintenance, children activities, and other tasks as assigned by the Volunteer Coordinator.

Background check is required - must complete at the Paulding County Sheriff's Department. No cost to the volunteer. Orientation is required - held at the facility (dates and time varies)

Work with hospice patients, family members, and staff members through direct care, running errands, reading, housework, or clerical/administrative support. Several locations in 21 counties in North Georgia area.

Victim Witness Assistance Program Dallas Volunteers will help with contacting victims and witnesses through phone and mail to check on status before and after court case. Volunteers will also help the Victim Witness Program organize special events such as community outreach, community fairs, community meetings, and through other networking opportunities.
