COLLEGE OF THE ARTS
Music Educators National
Conference (MENC): This group is a local affiliate of the Music Educators
National Conference (MENC). The purpose of this organization is to provide
all members with the opportunity to become acquainted with leaders in
the music education profession through participation in programs, lectures,
workshops, and performances. Membership is open to all students enrolled
at Kennesaw State University who are interested in teaching music.
National Art Education
Association: This organization is an affiliate of a larger national
organization. The purposes are to provide a smooth transition from art
education preparation to professional practice; to raise and maintain
a high standard of quality art education on campus and in the community;
to gain greater insight and perspective about the teaching of art and
contemporary concepts in art education; to sponsor service projects; to
promote an exchange of ideas about art education; and to enlist future
teachers from high school, promoting art education as a career. Membership
is open to all students who are studying art education at KSU. Members
are required to maintain the minimum GPA of 2.0.
Visions
(Student Art Guild): VISIONS was started in 1983 by faculty members Roberta Griffin and Patrick Taylor. We host a variety of events each year to benefit
students and encourage their growth in the arts. VISIONS is the longest active student art organization on campus. Our biggest and most anticipated event every year is the Annual Juried Student show, which is completely run by the students in VISIONS, and gives out over $1600 in awards annually.

Economics and Finance
Club: This clubs mission is to provide out-of-classroom learning
opportunities to students. The goals include enhancing the academic experience,
building students knowledge of employer requirements and providing
services to the Coles College of Business.
Kennesaw
Marketing Association (KMA): The Kennesaw Marketing Association(KMA) is an organization that provides hands on marketing experience to students and great networking opportunities. KMA has various opportunities that allow students to be involved on campus, providing them with valuable experience to take with them in the marketing workplace.
NBMBAA Coles College of Business Collegiate Chapter: A professional organization of black students and professionals who are pursuing or have obtained an advanced degree in business or other disciplines.
Students
in Free Enterprise (SIFE): is an organization that teaches free
enterprise in order to better individuals, communities, and countries.
Students accomplish this through team outreach projects where they involve
the community in the free enterprise system. Students have the opportunity
to teach others what they have learned. SIFE's learning philosophy is, "Tell me and I will forget, show me and I
might remember, involve me and I will understand." The planning and
implementation of successful SIFE programs gives SIFE students 'hands-on"
experience in team building, communication, marketing, management, and
public affairs. SIFE gives students the edge they need to be competitive
in the market place.
Society
for Human Resource Management (SHRM): The purposes of SHRM are
to acquaint students considering a future in human resource management
with the field; to keep students up-to-date on new developments in the
field of human resource management; to develop a nucleus of truly professional
human resource managers for the future; and to encourage adherence to
the Code of Ethics of the Society for Human Resource Management. Any full-time
or part-time student of KSU is eligible for membership.
BAGWELL COLLEGE OF EDUCATION
Georgia
Association of Educators (GAE): The purpose of this organization
is to promote interest among young adults toward careers in education.
The group provides members with opportunities for developing personal
growth and professional competence as well as opportunities to gain an
understanding of the history, ethics, and programs of the education profession.
Student
Professional Association of Georgia Educators (SPAGE): The purpose
of SPAGE is to give students preparing to teach practical experience in
working together and with other chapters and/or the state organization
on challenges of the profession and of society; to acquaint students preparing
to teach with the history, ethics, organization, policies and programs
of the state organization; to develop among pre-teachers an understanding
of the teaching profession through participation in the local and state
organizations; to interest students in education as a career and to promote
quality education.
WELLSTAR COLLEGE OF HEALTH & HUMAN SERVICES
Health and
Physical Science Majors Club (HPS): This organization is designed
to develop professionalism among physical education majors, to provide
opportunities for professional growth and development, to actively support
all movement directed toward elevation of the profession, to improve member's
knowledge and skills in the profession, to promote sportsmanship and school
spirit, and to set a high standard of professional conduct. Membership
is limited to declared HPERD majors or minors.
Human Services Club: The purpose of the PSSHS Club is to encourage education and compassion
between the students of KSU and our surrounding community. This is accomplished
by sponsoring speakers and events on and off campus. Membership is open
to all majors, with no particular GPA required.
Sports
Management Majors Club: The purpose of this organization is to
help educate and further the career development of those within the field
of Sport Management; to enhance the professional and personal growth of
members; to provide an active, ongoing forum for members to enhance their
careers through networking and relationship building; to promote high
moral, ethical and professional standards for members; to provide a vehicle
for the promotion of sport practitioners; to organize social outings for
members; and to help promote the annual Grady Palmer Lecture Series.
Student Nurses Association (KSU-SNA): The KSU-SNA is a constituent
of the National Student Nurses Association and the Georgia Association
of Nursing Students. The purpose of the KSU-SNA is to contribute to nursing
education in order to provide for the highest quality of health care,
sponsor programs of fundamental interest and concern to nursing students,
and aid in the development of the whole person within her/his professional
role and responsibilities.
Gerontology Club: The KSU Gerontology Club raises awareness of the worldwide aging population and provides opportunities for our members in the areas of education, research, service learning, and professional networking. Club goals include advancing scholarly and friendly interaction among faculty, students and local professionals. Volunteer activities include offering our services to the elderly community and in collaboration with local aging services. Each year we support established fundraising events such as the Alzheimer’s Association Memory Walk and the VKSU Seniors Luncheon. American Humanics Student
Association: This organization is to help people get involved with the community. It helps students to learn about being professional and working to help the community get involved with one another.
Criminal
Justice Student Organization (CJSO): The CJSO is a group dedicated
to promoting awareness of and interest in the study of Criminal Justice.
This will be accomplished through the holding of planned events, guest
speakers and regularly scheduled meetings throughout the year, with some
emphasis on community service and involvement, as well as academic achievement
and enhancement.
Geography Club (Department of Geography and Anthropology): The KSU Geography Club is committed to prepare students for a global future and our mission is to provide students with a greater knowledge and understanding of geography; to focus attention upon the importance of geography so that humankind may better understand the world and their role in it. The KSU Geography Club coordinates field trips, social events, geography-related academic events including Geography Awareness Week and Geography Spring Poster Session.
Psychology
Club: The purpose of the KSU Psychology Club is to stimulate increased
awareness of the field of psychology and to lend support to those interested
in the discipline, as well as providing opportunities for community service
and to facilitate interactions with other student organizations. Membership
is open to any currently enrolled KSU student.
Philosophy Student
Association: The purpose of the PSA is to encourage, stimulate and
maintain excellence in scholarship of the individual members in all fields,
particularly in philosophy and to provide an open forum for the friendly
exchange of philosophical pursuits.
Political Science Club: The purpose of this club is to provide students an opportunity to get
involved in politics; provide a forum for discussion of political, economic
and social issues; and encourage students to organize programs and events
designed to stimulate interest and awareness of politics.
Public Administration Student Association: The goal of this association is to enhance the educational experience of students, improve awareness of public administration issues, facilitate networking through meaningful interaction between students and public administrators, and to provide a means to learn about new study and job resources.
Public Relations Student
Society of America: The purpose of PRSSA is to cultivate a favorable
and mutually advantageous relationship between students and public relations
professionals. The student chapter seeks to foster understanding of current
theories and procedures of the profession, encourage high ideals and principles,
instill a professional attitude and encourage membership in professional
associations.
Society for Legal Studies: This organization provides educational direction and information to
students, promotes forums and creates an environment for the discussion
of traditional and contemporary jurisprudence with student and community
enlightenment as the primary goal. Competition in the National Mock Trial
is an annual event.
Student Anthropology Club: People who are really interested in anthropology, who want to get together to discuss and do things anthropological, and who want to make more anthropology-related events happen on campus (also see: Lambda Alpha Anthropology Honor Society).
Student
Organization of Sociology: SOS is an organization dedicated to promoting awareness of
and interest in the study of Sociology and its related issues and sub-studies.
This will be accomplished through the holding of planned events, guest
speakers and regularly scheduled meetings throughout the year, with some
emphasis on community service and involvement, as well as academic achievement
and enhancement.
COLLEGE OF SCIENCE & MATHEMATICS
American
Medical Student Association (AMSA - Pre-Med Club): AMSA is a national organization that has created a network of people interested in a medical profession. The primary goal is to promote diversity of medical personnel and work towards greater community awareness of medicine. Our local chapter has many ongoing projects such as: Halloween Food Drives, helping a children's home with Christmas, March of Dimes and working with Habitat for Humanity this Spring. We also are working on CPR certification for our members and a job shadowing opportunity for members who are interested.
Association of Computing
Machinery: ACM is organized for educational and scientific purposes
to promote an increased knowledge of and greater interest in the science,
design, development, construction, languages, management and applications
of modern computing; an interest in computing and its applications; and
a means of communication between persons having an interest in computing.
Charles Drew Minority Association
of Pre-Health Students (CD MAPS): CD MAPS is named in honor of Charles R. Drew, the eminent African American medical doctor whose pioneering research in blood plasma preservation and transfusion and the Rh factor led to the establishment of blood banks. It is in this spirit of achievement that the organization aims to recruit, retain and support students of historically disadvantaged and under-represented ethnic groups in their pursuit of careers in the science and health fields. Some activities include visits to hospitals and medical schools, seminars with invited speakers from the science and health fields, and academic networking for study groups and tutorials. In this way, members are able to promote academic as well as personal growth for one another as they advance toward their professional goals.
National Association for the Professional Advancement of Black Chemists and chemical Engineers (NOBCChE): The National Organization for Professional Advancement of Black Chemists and Chemical Engineers (NOBCChe) is committed to the discovery, transmittal, and application of knowledge in the fields of science and engineering. Our mission is to build an eminent community of scientists and engineers by increasing the number of minorities in these fields.
Pre-Veterinary Medical Association: The purpose of the KSU -Pre-Vet
Club is to stimulate interest in the veterinary medical field, to familiarize
students with the veterinary school application process, to provide members
with leadership and public service opportunities, to provide members with
information about the variety of opportunities available in the veterinary
medical field, and to provide the opportunity for students with similar
interests to gather and interact both socially and academically.
Student
Affiliates of the American Chemical Society (SAACS): The Student
Affiliates program supports undergraduate students, their faculty, and
local section members in promoting professional development, mentoring,
and peer-support mechanisms for those majoring in the chemical sciences.
The Student Life Mission: Student Life provides an open, comfortable, engaging place that promotes student success and personal growth.
