EMPLOYMENT with the SR&WC

The Student Recreation & Wellness Center employs over 100 student assistants making us one of the largest employers of students on campus. Student employees have major roles in the overall operation of the Center. The Center is looking for dependable and reliable students to help facilitate programs and services that are offered. Applications are available at the SRWC Front Desk or the Intramural & Recreation Services office located in room 129.  All applications are to be turned in to the IRS Office, room 129 in the SRWC.  Appointments for interviews are scheduled through the IRS Office when you turn in an application.

Each position requires American Red Cross First Aid and CPR certification, including AED training within the first semester of being hired. Applicants must have excellent customer service skills and positive attitude in serving students and other members. Mandatory meetings are scheduled throughout the semester. Wages range $6.00 to $8.00 per hour. All positions require a minimum of 12 hours per week during fall and spring semesters and a minimum of 6 hours per week during summerHours worked range from early mornings to late nights and weekends.

POSITION DESCRIPTIONS

Building Manager - Building Manager is employed to ensure the safe and efficient use and operation of the facility in the absence of full-time staff. Preference will be given to current student staff at the Student Recreation & Wellness Center that demonstrates good leadership skills and experience.

Front Desk – Front Desk staff is employed to ensure authorized access and use of the facility. Also, provides accurate information and answers questions regarding hours of operation, programs, and policies.

Equipment Checkout Desk – Equipment Checkout Desk staff is responsible for checking out/in equipment available for the convenience of the patrons; cleaning, inspecting, and ensuring that all equipment is ready for checkout; reporting any broken or damaged equipment to the facility coordinator.

Fitness Floor Attendant - The Fitness Floor Attendant oversees activities in the fitness area by providing basic knowledge, instruction and encouragement to participants as well as cleaning equipment.. 

Gym Attendant - The Gym Attendant is employed to ensure the safe and equitable use of the gymnasium during open times.

Circuit Training Room Attendant – The Circuit Training Room Attendant oversees activities in the Circuit Training Room by providing basic knowledge, instruction and encouragement to participants.

Office Assistant – The Office Assistant will assists in greeting, screening and referring visitors to the appropriate recreation program and staff. 

Technician – Maintenance Assistants duties include being familiar with the respective cleaning/maintenance procedures and to carry out cleaning and maintenance of the Student Recreation & Wellness Center facility and equipment based on a daily schedule.

Group Exercise Instructors - Group Exercise Instructors must possess nationally recognized certification such as ACE, AFAA, etc., Adult CPR and First Aid Certifications, knowledge/teaching ability of their form of aerobic exercise, and good communication skills. Prior teaching experience is preferred. Wage based on certification & experience.

Sport Supervisor – Sport Supervisors will supervise student officials and participants at game sites, tend to injured participants, settle on-field and on-court rule protests when possible. Officiating background is preferred. Candidates typically identified among current intramural sports officials.

Sport Official – Sports Officials will officiate various team sports, such as flag football, volleyball, basketball, soccer, softball, team handball, and dodgeball. Employee selects which sports he/she wishes to officiate. Scorekeeping may also be required. Prior experience preferred but not required. Training sessions provided. Interested students must attend appropriate training sessions.

Scorekeeper – Scorekeepers will help supervise the game site by checking in participants, setting up playing field/court, enforcing policies and procedures, as well as keeping the scores for each game/match.

Tennis Court Supervisor - Tennis Court Supervisor will be responsible for checking the tennis courts every 30 minutes to check KSU IDs and take count of the number of patrons.  Enforce all policies and procedures.

Field Crew – The Field Crew will be responsible for lining the Intramural Field with the appropriate field dimensions for the particular sport such as flag football, soccer, ultimate Frisbee, etc.

If you or your organization is interested in helping with our special events, please contact our office at 770-423-6913 to find out which events need volunteers. Volunteers will receive a t-shirt from the event and will be placed in a drawing for prizes.
